My car actually came with an Owners Manual cassette with a full version of the "Have you driven a Ford lately" song at the end. I can't run it now though because I don't have a cassette player anymore! I'm pretty sure it was a bit different to the one you've mentioned though.

Well, I lied. I still have my original Ghia cassette player. Only problem is it's tucked away under my desk!

I know the Ford motto was "Have you driven a Ford lately" but i cant recall a song about it. The 70's was Ford, Lead The Way and im not sure what era it was but "Going Ford Is The Going Thing".

As did the EB2 that the old man drove for many years. I played that FAR too much.
It was a 93 model.

There were many different versions of the campaign over the years, Ford Australia had adapted a few versions of the US ones for our market with our campaign starting at the end of Feb 1988 I believe. I think I only still have a few US versions that were about the Ford Tempo and Taurus that were the female only vocal ones but I might still have some very old Australian ones on tape in storage but I have a feeling I've lost them all along with plenty of other historical items...i'll look for them when I can find the time to.

Late 60's - Early 70's was "Ford Leads The Way".
The jingle had the same music as the US' "Ford Has A Better Idea" jingle.

Most of the 70's was "Going Ford Is The Going Thing".
I don't think there was a jingle for this, just a deep voiceover at the end of the commercial.

80's was "Ford Australia: We're Moving With You".

I believe the "Have You Driven A Ford Lately?" campaign started when the EA came out
and ran until EF/L. I believe the US were running well before AUS did.
Then when AU came out we got the "Live It" campaign. Complete with Lou Bega's Mambo No. 5.

Who Remembers the Ford News advertisments from the mid 90's?
I loved watching them as a kid.

This is the jingle, "Ford The Going Thing" http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=B8rAh72jRDo

There was also an Aussie version of it, it's on... http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au..._australia.htm

There were early Falcon jingles like Trim, Taught, Terrific for the XL Falcon.

I can't believe it seems no one has looked through www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au There are heaps of old Ford songs. Look up the XK Falcon, there are songs for it too, e.g. Keep Your Eye On The Falcon's Going By and It's Superb, It's Deluxe, It's D'Lovely. There are also songs for the ute and the wagon.

Got to http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au...ifications.htm and go down the page when you see the picture "Falcon Festival" and press play on the audio player under the pic, there are 14 tracks. Here are the lyrics for the wagon song...

Here's the job you'll agree for the whole family
The Falcon Station Wagon.
It has style, lots of room, it'll chase away the gloom,
The Falcon Station Wagon.
Take it out in the county, or down by the sea, for holidays you have accommodation for free.
It's designed for our roads, it'll carry big loads,
The Falcon station wagon.

Just look at how this job is been designed,
It's not just some sedan that's been refined.
The back seat pulls right down to make a bed,
It's just the place to rest your weary head.
And all this with a driver's seat in place,
The Falcon gives you lots of extra space.
(unidentified line) station wagon,
The Falcon is the best by far.

You can pack all the kids,
It's designed to save quids.
For the Falcon is the best by far!

Talking

the going thing lyrics

"Ford – it’s a whole new thing, it’s what’s happening, it’s the going thing. Ford, it’s the way to swing, go and have your thing, it’s the going thing.

Ford, filled with pleasure idea’s, they move, they groove, they prove that Ford, it’s the going idea.

Ford, it’s the going thing, Ford, the going idea, it’s going thing…"

Damn, you just gotta love the 80's beat! You can always pick a tune from the 1980's. Ford needs a commercial like this now, the soft fairy music in the current Falcon ads maybe okay but they need to broaden their appeal to the younger generation too, : :all they need is an up-beat jingle so when you pick your new Ford up from the dealer, you feel very excited and proud you brought a new Ford!
