Default My (on the cheap) < $500 TV and entertainment system

A while back the old 68cm TV went cactus, but not keen on spending lots waited out. short story with a some shopping i ended up picking up a plasma that was listed at $800 odd for a little over $400 (basically half price) so home it went and sat it on the old TV.

Then the urge to be Tim the tool man Taylor hit me, lets rip the belly out of the old TV , cut it down for a stand , strip the old stereo unit back, rip the fronts out, rip the old record player out, paint it all up flat black and she will be sweet. ( i had no family support at this stage other than strange looks )

so from this

to this, the old stereo is a cracker it has a 4 way sound system (quad setup) and sounds great, plus also retained the old speakers in the old telly and also patched them in. this gives me a 24 quad speaker setup with great base / top end, fade front back / left right etc.

patched in the DVD/hard drive recorder the play station (hidden in the cupboard) put it all back together and were done.

so a few tins of paint some cutting, hammering, sanding , gluing all done i have my manly urges out the road for another 5 years and a new unit all for less than $500, works for me. (pic a bit fuzzy)

There is nothing in this world that can't be vastly improved by a bit of DIY painting! Good work mate.

Looks very professional. And of course to buy something similar in cheap chipboard materials would cost at least twice that. Good work.

The old look was not bad, but it was VERY 1970s, and reminded me of our old kitchen.

The new look is contemporary and clean. I think it compliments the room and space quite well.

Great job.

I held a meeting with me, myself pete and I, and voted the bloody crap thing to the shed.

never seen so much money wasted on non used exercise gear in my life. 3 bloody women and flippen stretch this bend that walk this jog that crap everywhere.

so much crap you could start a gym and everyone should look like jane fonda.

It's gone now and replaced with a very stylish art deco silver and black small coffee table thingo bobby.

That way i can stretch my arm to the coffee cup and back and is the only exercise I need.

haha yeah. My mum bought one of those all-in-one gym sets about 10 years ago because it seemed like a good idea at the time. I think in that ten years the weights have been moved twice, and that's because we moved house twice!
