That looks like the current model Cayman and Boxter so I'd say they are probably older photos, however that's still a good find.

When are porsche designers gunna get off their bums and design a new car.
I think they have really only ever designed 5 cars
911
914
924/44
928
That fugly 4wd
Then they just keep tweaking tweaking. Bit like Ford Argentina has with the XK Falcon
Wish my job was soo easy.

Of all the Porshes built. I think I like the 928 and 944s best. So bored with 911 variants.

change the shape its not a porche ,same said with, mustang ,lambo, ferrari ,elfin .they have to be very recognisable to the brand with no confusion ,otherwise they are just like kia etc just draw some different shape every five ten years ,with no idea what it is till you find the badge .

You forgot the boxster. Mid engined two seat roadster as opposed to the 911 rear mount four seater.

The pic is of a cayman.

The pics are of the new, updated boxster/cayman - just released probably a couple of months back.

As for the 959, that was a 911 with flares...

Boxter looks like a bonsaii 911 to me.

Anyway, its only a bit of fun. dont take it to heart. Im pretty sure if someone was to offer me a free porsche, even if it did look like a 911 i would take it....

I drive a boxster S as my daily runabout. Better handling than the 911s I drove, awesome brakes, excellent straight line performance with the 3.2, brilliant exhaust note, and it helped get me laid last week so I'm not complaining.

Really?

I hope this didn’t take place inside the car otherwise you’ll require the services of a good chiropractor to get your back and neck put back into position.

The 928 was and is the ONLY car that Porsche completely designed and built without another company (usually VW) involved. Even the 924 and the 914 (Porsche/VW co-build) were going to be VW only, they pulled out and Porsche took it over. The 944 came from the 924.

Can't count the Boxter (or its ugly twin, the Cayman) as it uses so many components of the 911 (which upset a number of 911/996 customers when the Boxter was released).

TOTALLY agree, but then I am a bit biased. Sold my 944 last year. However, still have my fantastic 928GT.

I think a boxster could most definately be argued to be of different design. Engine placement is different for a start. The drop top isn't taking up that space where the seat is in the 911, it's the engine. But true, on the S many parts come straight from the 911 including brakes, forged engine internals, suspension, etc...

Jeremy Clarkson sums it all up perfectly. Porsche have the laziest designers in the world. IMO Porsche are too stuck with their heritage. They dare not change the 911 too much as they want it to be instantly recognised as a 911, and now it seems all their other models have to look pretty much the same. In the past their non-911 models looked different but now it seems they can't do that. For example a 928 was clearly a Porsche but it clearly WASN'T a 911. It had it's own identity. A Boxter/ Cayman looks like a slightly smaller and mid engined 911 though.

They need to re-instate the 1966 style and then start exporting them.

I'll take mine with an F6 motor
