Depends on the type of SC, how well it iis done, what year XR8 etc.
Also a common reaction to a heavily modified car is an impression of "the car has had a hard life".

As I've spent more time on these forums, I'm starting to really appreciate what people see in V8s.
I literally had no interest at first, but now I will seriously consider one for the future. However, speed is not the prime reason for me, since I don't participate in track racing or anything like that. PERSONALLY, I don't see the value of modding a car for extra speed and power when on Australian roads, you can't really enjoy it to its full extent. V8s are also a dirty word with current petrol prices. Overnight, the cost of Unleaded went up by 12-14 cents down the road.

yeah auction you can get lucky with a bargain now and again, but no one has a crystal ball , i think myself many times people sell at the auction for cars with problems or potential problems, and warranty = nil.
