Default noisy fan problem

G'day guy's,

Yesterday I noticed that the fan in my 99 AU ute is making a flapping type noise, like there is some kind of crap which is just touching it.
It is coming from what seems to be the back of the glovebox area.

I saw a post about something similar, but now cant find it.

Does anyone know if it is easy to get to the fan and try to clear the obstruction?

Cheers,
Scott.

Maybe a leaf in your blower (aircon/heating) fan.

take out glove box (open and push in sides to dis-engage stoppers, then pull bottom out of hinges) then behind there you will see a white flap, this pushes up, if you cant see how, turn the aircon on, and to recirc and watch it go up. Turn it back off, then manually lift it, you will find a leaf or something in the fan at the back, or a fuel receipt as mine likes to suck up.
Hope it helps

Talk about bringing an old thread back from the dead.....BUT....

My fan has been like this for a couple of months now - opened up the flap this morning, couldn't see anything.......stuck the vaccuum in there to try and pick up something......made no difference!!! But with the flap open and the fan going, it sounded horrible lol........there's definately something there....methinks maybe underneath the fan!!!

How do I get at that bit? Does that mean removing the dash??

Ive never had a leaf in there, its always been fuel dockets. The suck up and in there. Sometimes some tweezers help to pick it out.

WOW.....that's all I can say about that photo...

Well got the torch out to have a look to make sure there was definately nothing in there, and there isn't!!! But it's still making the noise!!! If the leaf had somehow gotten under the blower or somewhere similar....how do I take the blower out??

Any suggestions???
