Default New path 'hoon strip' (news article)

I'm a little perplexed with this article, I cut it out of my local paper today to share here and get some thoughts on it.

It appears to me this old bloke is just looking for something to complain about.

So in other words, it actually hasnt become a hoon issue, this stupid old thinks it will, even though he has no evidence to prove it, and wants his A4 sized piece of glory in the local rag.

First grade dicklord IMO.

If it becomes a first class drag strip, it will become a great place for the copper to stake out!

Slow news day? Give the guy a shovel and suggest he is more than welcome to dig up EVERY SINGLE BIKE PATH that is directly attached to a road in Australia...sigh...if he ever goes to China and sees all the bikes and cars in the same lane he will have a heart attack!

99% of that artice was 'He said' this and 'He said' that...not an ounce based on fact or evidence...just some guy having a whinge...definitely a nothing article!

This quote cracked me up the most:

"There is nowhere else in town where you can drive on the footpath"

Yes...thats generally the idea!! Also, who the hell has time to walk around with a measuring tape measuring the width of bitumen??! If he isn't worried about lying down on the side of the road making himself obscure to measure some concrete while cars are flying by then it can't be that dangerous?

Gah...

You shouldn't be riding a bike on a pedestrian strip. $50 fine - someone go get him!

It's a new dual use path along the foreshore, so bikes are allowed.

Most sane people would applaud such a thing because it keep bikes off the road.

Gramps shouldn't worry about Hoon Car drivers there.
He should be more concerned about the Hoon Cyclist that terrorising the pathways these days.

Looks like an excellent spot for a drag if you ask me. We should be petitioning the local council to install safety runoff areas ad the end, doner kebab caravan parking with metered power supplies, port-a-loo installations and tarpaulin covered seating plus solar powered traffic lights.

It would create jobs and be good for the environment when the tarps capture rain water on top, the farts from the kebabs are captured under the tarps to power the doner kebab caravans and the traffic lights don't need power at all. Talk about renewable, sustainable fun!

Work has already begun with these 2 old farts standing around.

"There is nowhere else in town where you can on the foot path"

Doesn't he get it? We aren't driving on the foot path he's riding on the road. The road is a place for cars.
Don't really like the idea of a dual-use road it just encourages idiots on bicycles to use the roads which with the way the most of them ride and the way people can't cope going round them it's just asking for someone to be killed.

Id love to see the comments people write in to the editorial section in tomorrows paper. Never considered a cycleway a 'hooning' spot. Maybe should get rid of the cycleway altogether as even with the narrower ones, the risk of 'hooning' motorcycles exist

A strip of concrete kirbing along the path would separate the path from the road, just make it high enough so that cars bottom out if they go over it, you know the kind of things you see in carparks so you don't drive into the shop, put one of those every few metres

5th paragraph left column :
'he said it was a long stretch & trees cast shadows on it'

...do the trees make you speed along the road now? What if we rip them out...can we race to our hearts' content?

Maybe he should volunteer to be a speed hump just in case cars do drive down it. Get to it gramps.

Obviously has nothing better to do.
