Question XR8 Blown Gasket Headers?

Hi all,

I think I may have a blown gasket (rhs extractors) as Im getting a ticking/sucking noise under acceleration. I tried tightening the bolts (and they were a little loose) its made it better but not gone completely.

If I do need a new gasket would I just get AU 5.0 V8 gasket set or are there different gaskets for different sets of extractors?

Gasket goo should do the trick.

What is this goo you speak of?

Is it a short term dodgy fix or a lazy long term fix?

It is gasket in a tube. Looks sort of like glue. You squeeze a little on, let it skin then bolt it together forming a gasket. I wouldn't call it a dodgey fix. The Exhaust place that installed my headers used it and I've used it on other components in the engine bay. Permatex make it.

If your metal gasket (between headers and block) has had it, you'll need to replace that first.
