Default AU2 Futura a/c recirculate not working.

Hey all, I've got an AU2 Futura that has a problem with the a/c recirculate feature...basically, it won't switch from flow through to recirculate.
Anybody got any ideas on this one?

Thanks in advance,
Linz.

that's not something i've ever seen before on an AU. So you go from the man with the face arrow to the man with the face arrow plus the cyclone symbol (lol) and it stays weak?
All i can tell you is it's likely to be some kind of vacuum problem and it'll most likely be a dash-out job.

Probably a vaccuum leak or broken plastic arm somewhere as Hardware said

An easy fix if you want it to stay on recirc (where AU's should stay as they have NO filters) take out the glove box and reach inside above the fan area and feel the fresh/recirc door, push it UP and in the top left corner of the plastic area behind the glovebox put in a 5cm long screw to prevent door closing, as door hits screw and cant close - permanent recirc.

Yeah AUs should be on permanent recirc (except for maybe the first 5 seconds after getting into a hot car). Anyone who leaves it on fresh air is a nong.

Thanks for the replies...so leaving it in the recirculate position (with the screw idea) won't affect the windscreen demisting position, which is one of the fresh air outlets on the dial, to prevent a "white out" when switched to that point, or are they totally different air doors behind the dash for that function?

The door you prevent shutting is only the fresh/recirc door
it goes back to fresh mode by default when the car is off, or you lose vaccuum

If you turn to floor window etc it will still work but will be using recirc air not fresh, it will still demist.

I always leave it on recirc and also had home made filters wedged in front of the fan area in the taxis. Saved me $$$ on fans and evaporators etc from all the leaves, sticks, dirt, flowers etc that falls in when you activate fresh mode. The intake is under the wiper cover on the left side so thats how all the crap gets in.

With the screw trick drivers could push the fresh button (normally smokers) and the lights would change and they would be happy.

Smokers always claim they needed fresh air - firstly DONT SMOKE IN THE TAXI, secondly how is sucking the exhaust of the truck in front fresh air anyway?
By ADR laws the air inside a car is changed so many times a minute anyway whatever settings you have the heater or a/c on

If you really want fresh air, put the window down for a bit.
Then wind it back up - a Falcon aircon cant aircondition the whole country
Your fuel economy will thank you as well.
