They've probably removed the spare wheel and put a can of puncture repair foam in there to save the weight. Euro style.

That wouldn't be 33 kilos though.

Perhaps they have put some R&D into some alloy suspension arms?

Yeah I doubt they would of done that but a 20 inch wheel/tyre would come close to 30kg.

Maybe electric power steering accounts for some of the weight loss. By the way, great to see weight loss on a new model for a change!

The more I see it, the more I like it - aggressive luxury I see.

Ford doesn't even offer anything in this class, with this sophitication or level of technology.

I Totally 110% Agree with this. The Falcon, while lovely for what it is, is just a shambles as far as features goes, Ford Oz is so, so, SO far behind Holden here, and they have to start updating some things to up spec at least the higher model cars. My now $18 or so K Clio, has auto wipers, Auto Xenon headlights, Auto Up down windows, and a refrigerated glovebox (admittedly much of a muchness that)..

Oh but Falcon is the first with ipod integration, ooh Falcon is the first with a one touch starter.... ooh look we have NON LED blinkers on our mirrors..... Big effing woop...Sorry, but when an FPV F6 is running XT headlights while Holden has had projectors since 2002 and Xenons since 06, it is very hard to not get frustrated with Ford. Specially when you like your Falcons...

I'm not trying to be cynical, but as owners of 2 higher end FG's, and two euro's (one German one Frog) its fair to say it is a wonderful excercise to compare. I would LOVE to see Ford push the envelope and come out with some of the fantastic euro style features that Mondeo and Commodore have.

Here's hoping.

(and before any of you decide to get ****y pants about my rant, know that I am solely referring to the lack of development of features. As far as I can tell, the 2 FG's drive JUST as good as our 08' X5 3.0sd and THAT friends, is amazing.)

Sorry mate but you positively sound like the most unintelligent cave dweller I have come across. Your contribution to the thread is probably just under zero. There's ACTUALLY no point to anything that you have said apart from the fact that you've alienated Euro Drivers (and belive me I ain't the only FF'er with a euro in the garage so don't assume your comments will be met with universal agreeance), and made yourself look like an absolute moron. Whats the issue? your fleet of cars cost about as much as your IQ? mate, you don't even own a Ford. So why are you constantly trying to cause trouble here?

Grow a brain and realise that not everyone buys the cars they buy to be a poseur. Some people have a passion for nice cars. If you drove my Renault (and do some research on the model before you open your useless trap again), you'd know why I love to fang it as much as the Utes, and pretty sure mate, last time I checked, the handbrake is in the middle of the centre console and the X5's Handbrake switch is on the drivers side as it should so looks like you're just made a knob of yourself.

Oh but thats right, you just "don't like Renaults" and "BMW is for posuers" Yeah nice work fella, gooooood job.. You should become a motoring journo! Maybe you should just drop the Clarkson act mate..

EDIT: DO you really drive a rex? You do realise thats a HIDEOUS Jap car that is probably FAR to fancy for such a refined motoring palate as yours?? I know a few blokes who have gone from MY99 -02 rexes into Clio 182's so your comments confound me.....
