Ive got a AU2 XR8, is it possible to adjust my hanbrake if i use a trolly jack and jack the front of the car as high as possibe??
Not even going to try jacking from the diff to lift the rear of the car from what ive read in this forum.. Cheers |

you could always adjust it from inside the cabin... all EF/EL/AU and i think BA's, you can adjust it from inside by pulling the handbrake cover off, and adjusting the bolt...

If you're going to do the adjustment at the rear hubs, can you lift one side (rear) at a time?

Nothing wrong with jacking under the diff - I do it all the time. Just make sure you use the metal cradle though, and not the diff housing itself.
Or as ronwest suggest, jack one side up, put it on a chassis stand, then do the other side, and you have both ends up at once. BTW, the BA handbrake cannot be adjusted from inside the car, but the AU one can (it's a 10mm nut at the base of the handle).

Thanks guys,, thought it was as easy as adjusting a cable..just like ajusting rear brake drums..I cant believe what a drama just to lift the rear of the car with a trolly jack..I might have to consider buying another trolly jack so i can lift the car from both side jack points a bit at a time with 2 jacks..
While im under there i`ll see if a can make a steel craddle so i can lift the car from the rear with 1 jack.. Cheers |
