Default Old School New Again

I was on my way to the Grand Plaza this arvo about 4pm when the wife spotted a really nice old car in the car park opposite a wheel alighnment place so we propped for a look , she insisted
1957 489 BB th 700 9"
very clean tidy and sounded tuff enough , only took him 10 years
will be shown at Munchies in a few weeks

That is an understatement , in a couple of weeks he will be visiting Munchies , he said his first drive will be around 7 to 8 pm this evening out to Beaudesert area and back , on close inspection bearing in mind it needed final buff and brush touch was near ferpect

Nah , remember I started driving in the 60's , I owned a 56 and thrashed it , along with a 54 blue flame plus ford v8's from 38 39 48 52 and 54 63 64 etc , plus a lot of cars which people today fuss over , best was a chopped channeld 1937 plymouth coupe that cost me less than a grand to build complete with 352 v8 , my daily at the time was either the mini cooper or or the 38 ford ute , the stuff you guys drive if it lasts will have the same effect in a generation

I'm not so sure. I don't think anyone will ever fawn over an EL Falcon or a BA XT, no matter how much time passes. There's something about those old tanks..the fins, the lashings of chrome.. If I had the coin I would love to have either a '57 Chev or a Customline.

I think some models will draw a hit on the wish list , some of the japper monsters and some of the gt style cars and maybe something like the more rare bmw and similar , the mid 1950's fords and chevs never were that common and those that existed were killed off early by what I knew as rockers and bodgies , most of whom couldnt drive to save them selves. If you want a classis go find one , the chevs and fords are "belly buttons"as in everyone has one , I recently bought a 1946 chev 1 ton truck for very little money which when I finish my current projects , an '82 Bronco (6 months work) and a 1966 ground up restore Jaguar 420 G (1000 + hours over 4 years ) well not sure what will happen to the old truck but be certain it will be v8 and different , maybe buy a small pommie toy like the bloke at Munchies with the reworked Morris 8 pickup and v6, or maybe a Ford Zephyr convertable , those cars are pretty and easily worked on , affordable and certainly within your reach . What about a small dodge or C1100 International pickup , or maybe an effie ?

the crap we threw away in the sixties and seventies
it hurts now
just a few
34 Ford 3 window coupe paid 10 Quid ($20) and sold for 50 Quid ($100)
that was in 1964 with the cash I bought a 53 anniversary Customline
for 25 quid ($50)
after 3 months sold it to the wreckers for 20 ($40)
bought a Mk1 convertable $200 and it eventually went to the great car yard in the sky actually in the ground
now on to the seventies when we lost the plot
bought a 327 Monaro for $1750 and after 2 kids and 3 years
traded it in on a Valiant wagon I got $1000 as a trade in on a $2000 wagon
I was thrilled at the time if only I had known
then if I could have read the future I would have bought a lotto ticket and I would be rich now

Gee its not just u older gen that now cry
Was only 15 or so years ago
People couldnt give away ruff looking first generation monaros
10 years ago a bloke paid 20K for an LT1 factory HT/HG Monaro
(I thought he had rocks in his head,whos larfin now)

1957 Chev
Ill find space in the shed real fast
And a
1967 Mussy coupe for the minister

The old stuff was cheap in the day,cause noone wanted it
XDs,VK commos,ect (early 80s stuff)is still cheap and theyre all
Elligable for historic rego
Old doesnt mean expensive
