Default Older festiva.

Recently I just changed the oil and added some stop smoke in my girlfriends car. The engine was quite noisy, but now sound pretty good. Pretty sure there is a hole in the centre muffler which makes a bit of noise. Basically I'm asking what are some other cheap things I could do, just to keep it going for a few more years. Spark plugs etc? By the way it is a 1998. Not looking to spend much...

It has a Mazda B5 engine, I've got one in the family, tough little bugger.

Spark plugs are easy to obtain, anyone sells them, cost me like $20 for 4, from my local rip-off auto store.

Not sure about leads, haven't bought any yet.

Oil filter is a Z79A OR Z436, both fit fine, the Z79A is a bit larger, but no problems fitting there, I've used both.

Air filter is A1272

Fuel filter is Z484

I'm fairly sure 1998 is a WF model.

Fuel filter is fairly easy to do, might as well as do that too. Its in the engine bay, just make sure you depressurise the fuel lines before you attempt to replace (pull out the fuse/relay for fuel pump and start the car till it dies).

With fuel filter, I do ours every third service, so every 30,000km, it'll be under $25 for sure.
