Default do I tell vicroads about gearbox conversion

So, I put in another motor and converted from auto to manual, do I tell vicroads over the phone, or do I have to go in and show them it?

I think they're closed tomorrow, so maybe some insight from here instead

I know in Nsw you need an inspection for engine swaps, called a 'change of details' inspection. I'm sure you will need to do similar. As for transmission, can't help there sorry!

depends really. you can get away with a few things. if you put the same engine in, all you pretty much did was convert it from auto to man. IE 4L auto i your ef, and you put in another 4L with a man instead.

If there's no mods to make it work ??
If it was fitted to same model as std ??
Don't worry.. Much the same as fitting an LSD...

well if you didnt de-register it you should be ok for a few months atleast. if you do get pulled up just tell them you only finished it the day before and that your getting the legal stuff (technical term) done that day. otherwise you pretty much have to give them the details, so you might as well just do it all and save the hassle down the track.

If you notify them you will have to take the car down there for them to inspect the new engine number and issue you with a new rego label with the new number on it they wont bother with the gear box conversion
