TAFE is the place or your local Forklift/Machinery assessor which will be listed in the phone book.
BTW, there is no dodgey and there is no cheap.

No such thing as dodgy . Lol z . You may be able to do assessment only which will do theory and prac exam but will still pay about the 150 mark. Be aware you will need to know your theory and be able to drive quite well. Source : me , f/l trainer, assessor

Real good place to ask for dodgy licence which allows you to drive around our roads & workplaces in a large machine.(not). Worksafe would have your 'family jewels' first visit cold-calling or, (not saying ya cant drive one exceptionally well) an accident happens . Sometimes murphy gives you no choices at all.
Mind you, driving a fork capable of picking up a loaded 40ft container gives you a sense of what real grunt is all about.
Cheers

Should have gotten onto this when I posted it last week man. We're two classes in, but you MIGHT be able to squeeze in. Can't hurt to ask.

Got mine a couple of months ago (lucky work paid for it) but your looking at a bit of money. Mine was through the local tafe (using the onsite forks). But I know in the past there people there were getting them done quickly in a day. But even if you pay a bit more now it will be worth it as I hear its gonna be a week long course soon.

I know a few people that got it in a day last year. I'm just saying the rules are changing (but the licence allow you do drive a larger range of forks).

I got mine about 2 - 2.5 years ago in two days.

I learned absolutely nothing, drove the forklift for about 20mins in those two days as the instructor was more interested in telling stories of crap forklift drivers and accidents etc.

But once you do it day in and day out, it becomes just like driving a car

I got mine about 2-3 yr's ago, the instructor was a top bloke, he come to my work premises, watched me on the fork for about 5-10 min's ( all I did was pick up a pallet from a stacking shelve put it on the ground, pick it back up and back on).
I was actually on the fork doing that (practicing) as he walked in.
Then I did the written test, to which I studied night and day for it leading upto the test. The funny thing was though he asked me if I had been stuyding and then ripped the answer's of the back of the booklet and left them on my desk and said there you go, you have 10 min's....lol..
He was a great bloke, he wasn't to concerned with much as he knew aslong as I showed competence on the fork and a level head he was happy.

when i got mine i got it cheaper (as i had to drive over an hour to get there.) the whole class was finished by 130pm on the first day. was all too easy, when i was talking to local tafes etc about it they stated the 2 day course is more for ethnics who cant speak English and have NO idea about driving a fork. (this was told to me by at least 4 places i rang about it)
