Yeap, no vision, lots of Fords are made in both LHD and RHD, Mustang is but just another model.

This is another reason why GM & Chrysler went bust, and Ford had to near sell off near everything/assets ie Volvo, Jaguar, L/Rover even its icon badge, [not farm, as in Fairlane] to save itself and just made it over the finish line, while the Asians are booming in sales, total wrong attitude from Americans, all too hard and difficult, just buy what we make, we dont care if u dont like it, and pay me a bonus too, and like i said no vision.

They pioneered cars and mass production, the Asians have taken it to the next level.

According to EVO an MX5 flogs it, let alone a Megane, Focus ST, Gti etc. let alone a Cayman. That said EVO (and every other mag but Wheels) thought the Honda hybrid was average at best: it got Wheels COTY...

Ok I cant take this anymore, which part of this car is not in the same league as a hot hatch dont you understand? You wouldnt compare the beloved S15 with them would you.

The Honda is a good car and won CAR of the year, not performance car of the year. OT anyway.

It seems you think you know more than Subaru, Toyota and who was that other manufacturer...

Oh and Ford. Im done.

The EVO test car being an automatic probably explains most of the distaste.
I agree just rushing out a test in an auto hurts EVO's cred.
Not many ready an 86 review in EVO would be ordering an automatic.

Word on the street is that Toyota Australia have stopped taking orders for the 86 - just not enough supply.

Best bet might be to check out the Subaru in case they have enough stock.

I doubt that VERY much, EVERY dealer worth his pinch of salt would take EVERY single deposit on Agent86 and tell the customer any sort of quasi lie.

We have seen extreme high demand before, Holden SS V8 Utes, Mazda MX5, MazdaCX5 and even the Golf GTi and its smaller sibling the Polo GTi

Manufacturers catch up in the end, supply increases/demand decreases new model/brand comes out, a better mouse trap comes out and the game starts all over again

Why cant we see through the smog? Its a corolla sportivo in a fancy dress. 200nm of torque wont make for much of a drive. 147kw power? Didnt the vt commodore get 147kw.

Sure it looks pretty but surely noone is fooled.

Buy a falcon fg xt with a set of rims and it would bolt away from it from a set of lights.200kw and 391nm.

Lol...wow...lights...you'll go far kid. Sounds like "the smog" has stung your eyes...

Comparing a sports car with a Taxi ford a traffic like drag?

Come back when you have a general idea about what the point of a car like this is.

Do you know anything about Power to weight ratio?
how much did the VT weigh?
the 86 weighs approx 1260Kg

It shares nothing with the Corolla,
Corolla: FWD, inline 4cyl
GT-86: RWD, Subaru Boxer 4cyl

These cars aren't built for traffic light drags
but try and keep up to an 86 in an FG XT or a VT(or even VE) on a tight twisty mountain road

Wtf does a VT commodore have to do with this. Stop your trolling. You don't get it, then it's not for you.
It's not for traffic light warriors like you.

Well I have just taken one for a reasonable test drive and it will eat anything with an FPV or Falcon badge for breakfast around corners.

Straight line is reasonable but really only shows its style at 80-110++ due to aero which would make it not suitable for show pony bogans who just want to pose outside maccas from the lights in a 60km/h zone.

Turning circle is brilliant and brakes are not bad although I drove the bottom of the range "GT" with the 16" rims and small brakes. It also comes with a full size spare tyre not a space saver or can of goo.

Visibility is actually better than my FG and the interior is bland but functional. The GTS has a much more luxurious interior and better brakes etc.

As far as sportyness I heard a story that one was recently driven at a bit over 200km/h on a private road in another country nowhere near the "Popular Peoples Democratic Republic of Speed-Cameralia " and it felt surefooted and reassuring.

It is a genuine sports coupe and I hope it sells so well that Ford take notice and bring in Mustang or develop their own "RWD Focus ST".

Lol. I wouldn't be quoting top gear if you want any credibility.

So let's get this right: 4 different, experienced testers from a magazine with huge sales numbers are all wrong?

Understanding of course, that after EVOs criticisms of the McLaren against 458, McLaren went and made wholesale changes to it's supercar. If McLaren believe EVO know what they're talking about, that's good enough for me.

Top gear have more credibility then you.

Funny, in the evo vid, how it a gentle flick, and some throttle lift, the rear end sticks out. Feed it a bit to stick it..

Sounds like a good sports car to me.

And the evo reviews praise it...

I believe that was an earlier test, where driving was heavily restricted.

I suggest you read the latest issue: on the cover: "2000 miles in the new BRZ and why it's not good enough." It is then tested by 4 different journalists (a couple who race) and all 4 draw the same conclusion. And like I said, if McLaren is prepared to take their criticisms and make big changes then hey: Id happily say that McLaren has more credibility than anyone on this forum. End of story.

Mike, nikked: you know you've comprehensively lost an arguement when you resort to low brow name calling. I couldn't be bothered taking offence, but I'd say that's game, set, match.

I'm not sure if or why there is an 'arguement' or that anyone has won??

A new car has been released, and it looks to be popular, well priced and RWD.

It doesnt have 1000rwhp or every gadget under the sun. But so what.

To say that one particular Car is crap because one particular magazine said so is crazy. I'll bet for every single car made you could find magazines and reviewers who love it, and those who hate it, sure read them for reference or interest but that's about it.

When someone selects only reviews of a car which support their own negative point of view, when so many reviews are positive, to me that isn't "winning" whatever it is your trying to win. Bet I could find negative and positive articles on fiestas, and select only the negative to show how crap they are....

This thread is about the new Toyota 86, and by all means post your criticisms, but I think your point has well and truly been made, you don't like it.
And yes I don't like FWD, though I don't go into a thread about a new FWD car and bang on thread after thread after thread about how much I don't like it, I've mentioned it in this thread a few times because YOU can't seem to understand that my opinion differs from yours.

dont really understand all the vitriol against this car, mainly from one or two members.

its a well priced, small rwd car, with a ton of potential. fail to see why all the hate?
car version of ***** envy maybe?
