HSV is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a new iteration of its top-end GTS model. But if you were expecting Holden's hot-rod shop to use it as an excuse to reclaim the power stakes from crosstown rivals, FPV, you're in for disappointment.
There is no extra power or torque for the latest limited edition model, dubbed HSV GTS 25th Anniversary, meaning the GTS remains 10kW and 20Nm shy of the FPV GT. Fortunately the pricing has also stayed the same ($84,990 plus on-road costs) and it will be limited to just 140 examples (125 for Australia and 15 for New Zealand). It's powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine producing 325kW of power and 550Nm of torque, and comes mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic (adds $2000). Features include a bi-modal exhaust, a launch-mode system for the manual model, a track-ready "competitive mode" for the stability control system, six-piston brakes front and rear, and HSV's "magnetic ride control" adjustable suspension. Styling changes include 20-inch lightweight forged alloys wheels with a graphite colour finish, and that colour also adorns itself on the bonnet scoops, grille/bumper intake and side vents. It also gets "25th Anniversary" badges on the outside, while inside the theme continues through stitching on the seats and a plaque on the centre stack. Safety elements include a blind spot warning system, standard reversing camera and sensors, and six airbags (dual front, front-side, full-length curtain). The HSV GTS 25th Anniversary edition is on sale now http://watoday.drive.com.au/motor-ne...001-26ukz.html

Looks good.... Too expensive though for a 6 year old model.

A lot of HSV fanboys very disappointed, as a lot were expecting more power, and some expecting LSA.
HSV have never done anything but sticker packs for all of it's anniversary models, I didn't think that they would change now. |

I like everything I see there but one thing, that front bumper! Overdone and not agressive enough, and the rear one is simply overdone... change them and that's an awesome car!! (Oh, don't forget mudflaps )

Maybe an old car.
But it still runs rings around FPVs offerings. interior is 100 times better. The new VF HSV should be a weapon. |

I wonder if the VF update will see the Clubsport keep the current engine and the GTS get the new engine.
I can't believe there is only "10kw" between the HSV and FPV. Looking at the performance figures of the Rspec, I think one of them is lying.

My bad. I didn't realize peak power relates to the what angle the throttle is at.
FPV must get to about 3/4 throttle and think "yeah, that'll do, we are already above HSV's peak" (no point wearing out the carpet under the throttle)

is that the 335 Kws is more like rear wheel power or just short of it.. I think understating the GS and GT' power was a masterstroke in starving HSV of a target to aim for, no matter how many Kws they now crank out, people will know it's still not enough to match the GT... |

Its quite interesting that this years special editions from HSV and FPV have reversed their traditional roles. In years gone by, its been FPV that has simply played around with wheel colours and slapped on some extra stickers, but that what HSV have done this time around. The FPV R-Spec LE has some real substance with major changes to the suspention ect, as well as the usual stickers & std leather. Either HSV or FPV buyer will be more than happy with the cars either way...

FPV's 5th Anni models were not anything to crow about either...
HSV still offer a good overall package, cant argue with that, but wow it still looks horrific. Post #3 sums it up perfectly.

Its stuff like this that puts HSV ahead of FPV...only minor things, but FPV needs to concentrate on the little features now they have the killer engine and suspention.
