The rotating brush car wash pre-delivery!

Porsche, after road testing each Panamera, sends it through what I used to regard as a last resort car wash.
I guess it must be a confirmation of the safety of microfibres in never trapping and holding grit....the ? is are they all the same in Oz?

My local carwash puts Bentley's, Aston's and the occasional Ferrari through the same type of carwash!

I wouldn't put my cars through one anymore, when you have pressure wash bays.

Microfibres are a fabulous invention which were owned by Kenjo I think but are now out of patent protection and dirt cheap!

Its not just the brushes that may or may not have trapped dirt, how clean is the filtered water that is used?

A few years ago I put a rental car through a car wash with the rotary brushes, the sediment on the windscreen after it was finished was such that it put me off car washes forever.

My advice is...
If you want your car washed properly it's best to wash it yourself at home as you know what products are being used and you know what your tap water is like.
So many times I see people wash the wheels first then wash the rest of the car....Big Mistake! The wheels are the last part of the car I was before giving the entire vehicle a final rinse over.

When I did a small stint working in a servo quite a while ago now, we used to have to do a walk through at the start of each shift. Some of the little ****** used to tie bolts and crap to the brushes in the middle of the night. This alone is one reason why I would never use one.

I would have no problem putting my car through the brush type car wash...the one at Porsche that they put the Panamera through of course...not the corner-service-station type ones. The one at Porsche would obviously be a high-dollar super clean and filtered water system a thousand times better than your usual car wash, you can be assured of that.

I wash the wheels first... Then I wash the car. If you do it the other way the car dries while you washing the wheels and you end up with water marks. I use different equipment on the wheels.

I think 5th Gear did a comparison test of different systems, they decided the rotating brush system was the least worst....then again, they used the brush provided in the pressure washing system, so that was a bit dubious.

This is how I was my car...
Hose it down, Then using car wash liquid in warm water I wash a small section of the car then hose it off so it doesn't dry and leave streaks. I continue doing this until the car is completely washed. I then do inside the door jams etc and my final step is washing the wheels. Again I hose down a wheel, Wash it then hose it off and do all 4 wheels finishing with a complete rinse off then allow it to dry. This method works well for me and I never get streaks on the car left by drying car wash liquid.
I understand that other people may choose to was their vehicle a different way to me and thats great... If you find a method that works best for you then stick with that.
