Hi all,
My 08 MA TDCi now has just shy of 170,000 km on the clock and its getting a bit clacky up top. Im doing 10k oil and filter with Nulon Synth diesel 5w40 (Gold drums) and this has my economy up slightly and feels nice (Viscosity) even at the 10k oil change point and being full synth I trust it more than the bulk oil muck the dealer was using (Supposedly Castrol Magnatec Pro). The oil is doing its job and is black as hell when changed as id expect a good oil to be. So next stop is to adjust the top end reset lash etc but im not sure what the options are so im handing this job to my mate and diesel mech Phil with a promise to find out what I can on the forums before the job is attempted. Suggestions and info on the job? Cheers, Tony

Just a thought that your Air intake manifold could be clogged up because of the EGR loop back.

Sounds interesting, The car is a bit fumey at times and I get a whiff of diesel in the cabin sometimes.
Last time Phil had a look he mentioned that some pipes were wet on the inside but I wasn't paying much attention as Diesels and Turbo's are not my thing. Any more info on the EGR Loopback?

It is the environmental stuff that sends exhaust fumes back to the air intake to be re burnt. In a Diesel this means that the air intake gets full of diesel dust that turns into tar.
