Default what car

say what model car type if you know

for a laser wiring problem pm vippen
for telsar it is me

once i know I will check my wiring diagramms out to see which ones are connected
as a general question my response is
that it might either be an earth problem or a switch contact at this point

question does your model have a dash dimmer switch ?
does it have any fuses under the bonnet?

Default volt meter

you need a volt meter to check for this lighting fault

with the volt meter you can take out the fuses and check to make sure there is voltage reaching the fuses and go from there

Possible causes

that dimmer switch might be faulty ?

or the light controller switch itself

the lights have inline relays that may be where the problem is (little black boxes )

check all the fuses in the engine bay make sure none are blown they should have a visable wire in the top to see if they are intact

I dont have any wiring information for an 89 only up to 1987 they may have changed . I dont want to put up useless information to confuse people

you check to see if you have volts to the lights wiring or contact points as well

the parking lights and dash lights are connected .they share the same wires and relays

Fuse blown. The tail lights and dash lights are on the same circuit, as with most cars. killing your dash lights is like a cryptic way of getting you to check your fuses and then you find the tail light problem will be fixed, otherwise you might never know that the tail lights are out.
