Really? Is this even something to complain about? There are videos on youtube, the news and social media of Bob Hawke sculling a full beer before, during and after he was PM and there are people complaining over someone enjoying themselves despite his position in politics?

I think the public is correct in scrutinizing him. Hes on the big bucks, with the big bucks comes responsibilty. Plus, theres all this crap on the tv about kids drinking/ fighting etc. What kind of an example is he setting.
I bet if this was an afl player or someone a like, he would have probably received a massive fine from his club, possibly suspended and the media would have been all over him. now who is this guy to get away with it, australia day or not. |

Good on him for showing he's a real person and likes to have fun too. Some people are such stick in the mud and scared to have a good time, in case some minority group might get offended.

You've got to love the press. Big headline stating....
Federal MP Andrew Laming crashed my Australia Day party....further down the article it goes on to say her two sons invited him over, skolled a beer.... half a plastic cup. and stunned us all....Nobody seemed stunned in the video or the photo, in fact they all seemed to be having a good time. Must have been a slow Oz day for news in Brissy!

Had a beer with mates, at a party. As far as we know didn't go driving, king hit somebody, or break the law. Good on him. Yes he can be scrutinised because he holds a position that is public. But like everyone he is entitled to consume alcohol in a responsible manner. Just because it was upside down doesn't make it irresponsible. Wake up Australia and start chasing the people that are breaking the law. Otherwise we are all screwed when we want a drink.

It just goes to show how much fitter our polliies are these days , can anyone imagine Russ Hinze or Richo being able to do that in their day ? You have to be fit with all the back pedalling , ducking and weaving , being given a hospital pass ( ask Peter Garrett what that is ) .
Whatever happened to the days of a bit larrikinism , more to the point where did all these anti anything people come from ? |
