I have said many times that Australian's are a apathetic bunch and deserve all the crap laws that we get.
http://ukfrancebikers.com/2014/04/12...streets-again/ What are the chances of Aussies ever getting this far off their collective butts? About zero I would wager....

Half the problem is the govt is targeting small groups of people at a time. Only that small group protests, so many people I speak to are ok with the laws that have been put in place here. "The govt will never use that against me" they say.

The French already taught us a lesson. They said "no" and refused to involve themselves in USA's oil hunt.
Lesson learned.

Is the proposed drop to 80 for all road users or just bikers?

Good to see, they are also saying what most of us say on speed threads. That it's the lack of education on the road that's killing people. And they are just revenue raising, so I guess it's not just our country.

48km string of 4x4's jam up Newcastle last year due to a protest of the government closing 4x4 locations. We can do, just most of the time people can't be bothered. |

We said "no" and they didn't like. I was overseas at the time with my partner, traveling through Europe, and got unfair treatment in France when security saw that we were Aussies.

I assume you're not talking about Afghanistan, which the French supported.

I won't get into the political side of things on the forum though (as per forum t&c and also because this isn't the topic matter of the thread). Cheers.

Glad to see another keen researcher, I was attempting to explain the situation in the most "basic" form possible to avoid hijacking this thread. You are correct that there were many contributing reasons behind the decision. If you wish to continue the conversation, feel free to PM me. I'm a bit of a history nerd (studied it formally) and am always happy to chat with anyone sharing the same interests as myself.
Cheers.
