Moved recently with Two Men and a Truck, great service, reasonable price and no damage to anything. They also kept an eye on the time and really pushed it at the end so it didn't roll over into the over time stage saving us $350.00. Would definitely use again.

Whoever you use, make sure they are recommended from a past happy customer (right down to the actual specific workers). One company a house mate used when moving out refused to take her stuff upstairs to her new unit as that wasn't made obvious when booking them apparently... was delivered to street level and they took more to deliver to the actual unit.

It's hit and miss. I've heard more bad moving stories than good ones. Do as much of the small delicate stuff as you can and get their insurance details before you pay a cent.

Rule number one when making a booking for a removal. Describe both locations VERY clearly the person making the booking.

Not that hard to do. Obviously this will impact on time and cost.

Last mob I used here was called City Moves.

Awesome service, right down to shrink wrapping the couches, washer, fridge and TV cabinet and only cost me about $400.

Got a free pizza meal deal out of them too for leaving feedback.

She did this - it was more of a scam / standover tactics. Single girl, truck load of stuff at the gutter, 2 shady guys saying either pay up a little more cash to clear up this 'misunderstanding' or we dump your stuff right here and you're on your own.

Convenient that the office she booked them through was closed on weekends etc.

Looks like I might go city moves. Little dearer than the others but included insurance. Also asked a lot more questions regarding the two houses. The others just gave me their rates

Quite often a home & contents insurance policy will cover your goods whilst "in transit".

Like anything, it pays to shop around.

When my mum moved from canberra to tassie she was charged $5000. Her & I boxed everything, even then the removalists thought they had to do that bit!
The boss also quoted mum another $5000 for insurance...sheez, she could replace anything broken herself for way, WAY less than that!

Also they chose to bring a freight container that turned out to be too small, so mum & I had to put things on her box trailer.

A bed base & a computer desk got damaged in transit, mainly 'cause the blokes jammed that container so tight you'd struggle for breath in it !!!
