I have seen this on another forum (probably perfomance forums) They came to the conclusion that it reached hydraulic lock point. Where the volume of air and fuel (when compressed) was actually more than what could fit in the combustion chamber - so the engine ripped itself in half.

I take it that it is possible esp. If they are putting 100psi into it.
