SHHHH...don't you know, "old cars are hopelessly unsafe and everyone must run screaming from the idea of driving one in case you have an accident"...
Even though we can, through the wonder of YouTube, see videos of crash tests of old cars we may own, like the 1982 Celica of mine, in a crash test at 50kph into a solid block where the passengers didn't hit the dash or pillars, and the doors still opened....
Be a good little consumer and go buy a new airbag-filled little hatchback...

I agree...lots of cars that legend says were "destroyed" in movies undoubtedly were. But even in the old days they had "hero cars" and "stunt cars". Look at the original Dukes Of Hazzard TV series...how many Chargers went to scrapyard heaven? Hundreds apparently, but the couple of hero cars would have suffered nothing more than cosmetic damage...
