Default Am i stupid.

For thinking of taking the moulded mud flaps of my Au and putting them on my BA11 GT. I like how there not full on mud flaps, and they do serve a purpose. There is already plenty of stone chips back there and I don't want anymore. Plan on keeping car for another 15 years.

Are you talking about the front wheels or rear wheels?

IMO mud flaps don’t belong on a performance model Falcon like a GT.
But having said that, in the country or do a lot of gravel or rough roads, then they serve their purpose I guess.

On many vehicles they are considered part of the "mud guard" and are a requirement to conform with ADR and protect other road users from having flung up from the rear tyres. See https://www.legislation.gov.au/Detai...f-f1ed149f8c05 Section 42.12 .
General Requirements
The vehicle must be provided with wheel guards (parts of the bodywork, mudguards, etc.) which must be so designed as to protect other road users, as far as practicable, against thrown-up stones, mud, ice, snow and water and to reduce for those users the dangers due to contact with the moving wheels..etc.
If the car came standard with rear mudflaps it's likely they must have them to remain ADR conforming. It's also why many new vehicles come fitted with rear mudflaps or spats but not front ones. I also think it's selfish and discourteous to other road users to not have them where the metal guard is not at least in line with the rear axle so the risk of throwing stones, blue-metal, nuts and bolts and other road debris at following vehicles.

Good on you mate. Whatever keeps you away from the amount of cash grabbing dodgy panel beaters around, do it. Why only another 15 years may I ask?

Both. I don't think the moulded ones look sissy. But am yet to see another GT with them. I have seen lowered cars and other nice fords like g6et's with them and they look good on them. Decided not to put ones on my AU on. There not black enough to match the black stripes down the side.

Surely that would block the paint shine and metallic. The car is that grey colour you see on a lot of BA ghias. The metallic shows through the grey the best I have ever seen.

Think so, its a series 2. Are they, side skirts. When I raced go karts the side pods were the things on the side of the frame. They look the same for series 1 and 2 if that's what they are.
