So ANCAP has worked of the euro test only to call the zb commodore as a 5star car
http://www.ancap.com.au/media-and-ga...a-with-5-stars Is it just me that finds it wierd that they are happy to use a LHD versions test?

Yet another ANCAP rating with holes in it.
The range-wide rating is based on a 1.6 diesel LHD car, tested in Europe. This doesn't take account for the V6 engine that could potentially alter the frontal results. But ANCAP give it the benefit of the doubt.

New standards, but they don’t back date new cars (on sale car ratings) that do not meet the new 5 star standard. |

This is where it needs to be called ANCAP II or ANCAP Rev.2018 - anything to differentiate the old system.
This new arrangement with points given for gadgets is utterly ridiculous. None of them will help when a truck runs a red & T-bones you. ANCAP should be about how the car performs in a catastrophic collision - how well the passenger cell protects the occupants. If they want to rate gadgets for dopes who can't drive, make it a different scoring system, and have 2 raticings - ANCAP Passive, that rates the body structure, and ANCAP Active, that can cover the gadgets. A (compulsory) system that rates things that drivers have eyes for, with more importance than structural integrity, is, in JC's words, Bull Shyte. |

What's the point of ANCAP anymore. Seams like one car gets a low rating because it's missing something while a different cars which is missing the same thing gets 5 stars.
I have never once considered safety ratings when buying a car. Most cars are pretty safe these days. |

Companies have been caught not providing RH passengers as much protection as LH ones, as proven by latest IIHS crash tests involving RH offset crash tests.
You have to wonder if that would be still the case the RHD cars... RHD cars need to be tested here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72caLypmKCA

Not only that, but Ford had extra reinforcement just for the crew cab versions of the F150 a few years back. Coincidentally as the highest-selling versions, they were the ones that crash tests were done on.

Didn't the Kia Carnival get a lower score in RHD compared to LHD not too long ago.
They had to do some investigating and mods to sort it out.
