That's like close to only $400 less than I was getting paid per fortnight gross as a fully qualified LV auto electrician in 2014

Not bad. Why do we bother slaving away. I reckon I could live on $550 a week.

Got that right.

This is happening at a time when I'm trying to get my 14yo to put a little more effort back into things like schoolwork. He's gotten a little lazy this year.
But there's a lot of examples around right now of Why Bother?
Just gotta point out all the other examples of why you should, but feels like you are up against sometimes.

You left out rent. Add $200 (which is cheap btw) and you have a whopping $50 left!

So, do I buy that $4 chewing gum to have minty fresh breath, or do I keep it to save for that emergency car repair that will cost at least $300?

Ever noticed all those small loan adverts lately? Tempting isn't it? H

Having been on benefits for over 12 months because of a medical problem, same benefits as able bodied bludgers, who I might ad get everything given to them, I speak from experience that you can live on ($700/fortnight/$350/week), but need to make sacrifices.

No steak dinners, car/no car depending on personal savings, no luxuries like beer and a bbq snag in bread on the weekend, dental visits etc. Oh, and that credit card, good luck with that one!

I feel you’re on the nail there; no fat for contingencies, no long term savings, no super input, plus general wear-and-tear is underfunded.

TF100: Not currently if you’re on Newstart, no.

Rent was included. $200/wk. =? $150/wk left.

I don't mean to insult you, but those in glass houses shouldn't throw anything.

Nor I, if I'm on the dole, I wouldn't need a car ? don't drink booze either.
I would have a half price rail line out the front of my house.

Entertainment, I guess I could sit and look at my Louisville all day as garden art.
