Default Meet the Bitter Vero, the $230000 Holden Statesman - Motors ...https://www.motors-addict.com ›

Meet the Bitter Vero, the $230,000 Holden Statesman. Today at 20:01. Have you ever imagined a Holden Statesman costing $230,000. Imagine no more because it .

The 2007 Essen Motor Show ushered in a return for one boutique German carmaker. Bitter isn’t exactly a carmaker dripping with brand recognition, but for a period in the 1970s and ‘80s, Erich Bitter’s eponymous creations rolled off the production line in Schwelm, Germany in exceedingly small numbers until 1989.

And then… nothing.

But in 2007 that all changed when Erich Bitter revealed his latest ‘creation’ at the Essen show. And it had a distinctly Australian flavour.

Take a closer look at the Bitter Vero and it’s immediately recognisable to Aussies as a Holden of sorts. And it is.
Thanks to his personal relationship with former Holden boss Peter Hanenberger, Erich Bitter was able to secure a supply of the then newly-minted WM Statesman.

But changing it to a left-hooker wasn’t enough for Bitter, who added a front end of dubious design, as well as a plush and luxurious redesigned interior.

Under that long bonnet drooping down into a nose and grille treatment only a mother could love, lived a GM 6.0-litre V8 making 270kW and 530Nm. It was mated to a Jurassic-era four-speed automatic, although a six-speed auto was available as an option. Other modifications included work on the suspension and brake package.

don't know how to download picture sorry

I just saw this and never knew they existed. A lot of money to pay to downgrade the looks and it doesn't really look like much of an upgrade on the interior.

Never really liked the Commodore base Statesmans' anyway but that takes it to a whole new uglyness level for me.

Never knew of its existence.
Still finding cars that I have never seen before.
Not that it is always a good thing.
