Default Bonnet Shakers .

Hi , can anyone tell me where I can get a mounting kit for a fiberglass bonnet shaker. I scored a second hand unit that has never been fitted , but there wasn't any mounting hardware with it . It was to suit an XR6/ 8 BA , but I am fitting an efi 5 lt out of a NC Fairlane into a 69 Mustang Fastback , so I will need to modify any mounting hardware
anyway.

This shaker isnt actually the same as the original spec for that car , the shaker was made (most likely ) by a fella who once worked from a factory in Dromana Victoria , no longer there. He told me many years ago that the original shape and size didnt suit the BA car , although it looked similar he made its dimensions quite different.

His website link is here ..

I fitted a shaker to my XR8 Sprint, i bought one for a BA and had to modifiy it and make my own brackets to bolt it to the top of the engine, from memory where the factory bbq plate cover bolts down.

Were they a factory option, or was it a dealer thing?

Never fitted by FORD as an accessories , however many dealer had the company that made the BA version fitted at pre delivery time by the maker of the product, at one time he was on the road several days a week just going to dealers fitting them to new cars.
The original mustang shaker and the one created for the BA ford are very different animals yet look similar , the difference was due to the mounting needs and available space under the bonnet.
He also had other alternatives , I think to fit AU XR8 and EL fords as well.
He's was very approachable when I first met him and a combo to suit the stang with EFI underneath can't be too hard to make look right and function well.
I recall seeing an XY over 10 years ago that had the EFI 302 under the bonnet ( GT REPLICA) with the air filter under the scoop and then fed neatly into throttle body .
I think the same car had an ed XR8 dash and seats as well. Possible cobalt blue paint , it was in South AUST.

Had one on my XE ESP, looked like it should have been there from factory. Looked magic and was functional. Car went so much harder with it fitted.

Had one on my XD 351 Ghia as well, It looked and worked good. Personally I don't like them on B series cars, but as Mr Beige said, its your car, if you like it, go for it.

Had one on my territory - modified an FG setup to suit the extra clearance between the top of the I6 and the territory bonnet. Also had on an an NL Fairlane, and have helped fit on to an AU I6 Fairmont ghia. Would love one on the GTE, but then I'd have to go big rear wing to match - would sort of negate the whole subtle look the GTE is supposed to have. Oh, and the missus says no - not to an FG GT!

It takes a bit of effort, and a bit of mucking around, but I think you can achieve a better look than the off the shelf Shakers , ?

This one is my current Car, with the set up changed a little , both are "custom" combinations of what is readily available...

I think a BA style on a 69 Stand may actually look good as the new style have a bit more of a curve to them compared to the originals. However think you will need to stuff about a bit to get the alignment right so it flows with the car.

The mounting brackets shouldn’t be hard to make. I had to make custom brackets for mine as I have the intercooler spacer so had to modify it a fair bit to make it fit.

But it is going onto a 69 Stang, so I think that falls into one of the "exception" categories.
