: To think I nearly took the bait as well. Internode run their own private network with plenty of redundancy and peering link in to the USA. That means that your connection runs flat out all the time. It doesn't have periods of slow down due to large number of people leaching at the same time as they regularly expand their bandwidth to cater for demand. They also were the first ISP to offer ADSL2+ and are the only ISP developing ADSL2+ - Annex M. Plenty of free content on their download mirror. Free streaming radio, free premium usenet and heaps of other things as well. Check it all out at their website: http://www.internode.on.net

Warning: Internode are not the cheapest ISP out there.
But there is the saying you get what you pay for. Internode are great value for money though. There is a saying about ISP's... Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Pick any two.

Optus is OK, but expect trouble with their billing.
My father had organised dial-up through Optus and subsequently passed away during the 2 year contract. Mum could never get them to change it over in to her name afterwards. Also there were big problems when we cancelled Dad's credit card as well. Took two months and 2 suspensions of service before they finally sorted it out. Once the contract ran out, we swapped Mum over to Internode (The 10 free hours of dial up I get with my ADSL connection)
