I have just replaced the OE suspension on my IRS-equipped AUII TE50 with adjustable Konis and lowered King springs.
After 1 track day at Winton, the rear shocks have smashed through the rubber boots in the top of the shock towers. : These boots were brand new. Can anyone assist with a solution to stop this happening again? |

Unfortunately the weakest part of the AUIRS.....Strut mounts at the rear.
My previous S3XR8 after lowering her went through 3 of the bloody things. Ford reckoned a while ago they had done a revised version but that was one of the 3. If you still have WTY you can get it replaced but don't have the lowered coils in her at the time. My T3 was on SSL kings when I bought her, luckily there were fine so while on a good thing I put her back to std T3 height. There is no aftermarket urethane product done that I know of which may have longer life but to harsh imo.

I was afraid that was going to be the case.
After a bit of discussion, my spanner man is going to try using bigger washers on the top of the shocks to spread the load on the strut mounts a little wider and maybe lengthen the bump stops. I'll report back with the results - I have another track day at Phillip Island in 2 weeks. I hope we can solve the problem - the car looks s**t hot lowered at the back. |

why couldnt you just get a bracket welded up for it to replace the rubber part??
it will ride a bit harsher but in the long run it would be better?

Longer bump stop even less travel but for track work doesn't matter. I am intending lowering mine a lttle more at the rear let me know how she lasts with the fix....

i was also thinking it would be stiffer so would maintain your suspension geometry etc like when using rose joints etc
