Whilst that may be true duel fuel is too much of a compromise for many of us.
Once this new tech comes from the factory nicely hidden under the car i'll be all for it.

I hated Diesel in the family car as I always had to go and fill it. After the Mrs touched a Deisel pump once she would never do it again.

I get diesel regularly at an independant station on Dorset road, it's a high flow pump with no cover right down the back, even in work clothes with boots the fuel slick i stand in and greasy pump are a little off putting.

I imagine a suit wearing person would be quite turned off by the whole diesel experiance using that pump.

Something i never experianced when running an LPG car for 10 years, never a drop spilt.

Have you seen my huge liquid injection thread in the LPG Forums?

Combine that system with the soon-to-be-available toroidal (donut-shaped) tank and you've got yourself an almost completely hidden dual-fuel installation.

If you can wait a bit longer, you'll be able to get an FG Falcon E-gas with the same injection system but configured to run as single-fuel.

The single fuel E-gas Falcon sounds great, for me it needs to be 4wd so a Ranger would be nice if Ford are listening

Gas systems require maintenance. If not maintained? Then the risk becomes higher. A leak is something no one wants.

And what happens when a petrol line ruptures???

Just goes to show how people take the safety of their fuels systems for granted. What use is a fuel for a combustion engine that's not explosive???

I would much rather fight a non pressurised fuel fire than a pressurised one.

That would be just like petrol but people still drive petrol cars.

I'd hope that my fire fighter would understand the characteristics of different fuels and the relative ease which petrol ignites compared to gaseous fuels. Then you have the issue of petrol 'pooling' whereas gaseous fuels boil off and disperse.

WRONG,lpg being heavier than air DOES pool.
I can throw a lit cigarette into a bucket of petrol and it won't ignite,there is no way I would do that with any flammable gas!!
Oh and just for the record,I'm not YOUR firefighter.

I would say at a guess that the reason most people don't buy LPG powered cars isn't the fact they spontaneously combust with the slightest jolt ..... unlike petrol powered ones that explode with the smalled impact. (I have seen it on most TV shows so it must be true!)

Stay on topic and an LPG thread may just make it to 300! Unlikely though.

And how long does it stay heavier than air for? Not long at all. LPG in vapour phase is LIGHTER than air. Petrol remains in liquid phase at room temperature and takes significantly longer to evaporate (boil off) than liquid LPG does.

I know of a story of a mechanic that did that and he came out second best. I won't go into the details.

When was this suggested? The point I brought up is that ALL fuels for combustion engines are explosive and highly dangerous and that people take this for granted when they decide on a suitable fuel to power their daily driver.

Never said you did ....... but was mentioned at the beginning of this argument on the combustibility (?) of fuels which is where the thread went left.

So close to 300 but as stated by the bloke who said as he started the car .... "Do you smell something ......?"
