It's a sad day for Australian motorsport and one we will long mourn.
The term 'great' is used with little thought for what greatness is but those who rise above their peers to be the best at what they do are truly deserving of the word. Thus was the case with Peter Brock as it was with Possum Bourne and they shared many of the same traits which endeared them to a legion of ardent fans. Their skill was only a part of that, many others had skill as well but the truly great have something else as well that sets them apart from the rest of us and it was evident in both these men. Nor were they perfect outside of their chosen fields but they brought the same self belief and passion to their non racing activities that they brought to their racing ones and in doing so earnt our love and respect. The world is a worse place without both of them. Russ

Forget brand loyalty, Brock was an icon of the motoracing scene, and a legend of a person, he deserves much more respect than clearly your simple mind and muster.... Peter Brock touched so many people, and especially those who had been delt a rough hand in life, he strove to help others and improve everything he could, he will be very sadly missed.

I lost a lot of respect for Peter in 1987. He was a very successful racing driver on the local scene. But some of his antics left a bitter taste in many people's mouths which others are trying to gloss over. May he rest in peace.

he was a legend, and could steer anything on wheels
He was always well spoken and a gentleman on the track. Fitting his last day on this earth was racing a motor car, which was his life and brought him ever lasting fame.. |

Peter Perfect, Rest In Peace.
Like most people here, i'm a blue oval fan through and through and naturally that makes you hate the enemy and the people who drive those cars. There was only one exception to that rule for me, Peter Brock. I remember talking to him on a few occasions at various racing events and he always took the time to talk to you like you were his best mate, even when you were wearing a Ford t-shirt! Thats the calibre of person Peter was, a true gentleman and the best ambassador for Australian motorsport we have ever had. He should have been knighted Sir Peter Brock years ago. What a sad, sad day :( |

I feel at this time of such a tragedy whether it be Peter Brock or any other person, if people have a negative opinion of a person they may be best leaving their comments to themselves. It is a time of grieving and rememberence not a time for egos to give their opinions on persons they may never have even met or spoken to.
Alot of people who are close to Peter are in this forum. My touch with Brocky was follows. I was a a drug addict, drinking loss at one stage in my life after my well known Australian brother was killed and it wasn't until Peter Brock spoke in an interview with Andrew Denton about life, lifestyle, and about his ups and downs in life that I connected and changed my life completely around to be one worth living. Every word he said rang true in my ears. I often say to people Peter Brock changed my life and he did and for this I can never thanks him enough. He was due to be in my hometown of Murwilumbah next week to race at the Speed on Tweed. My local vegetarian cafe had Peter booked in to dine and the owners were going to tell him my story as they knew him well. Peter was a vegan. He touched alot of people. His charities, his antics and his everyday persona will be very missed. One of my best memories was pulling him up on his moped in the pits helmet & all and getting a photo with him while us two drunk guys hung off him for a moment we talk about to this day. That day he took the time out to stop, pose with two drunks for a photo. Like to see Skaife do that. Thanks for the memories. |

What a horrific thing to happen, especially in rallying too. Now some might say that he always ran the risk of coming a cropper and they would be right but it was his constant striving to better his performances that made such an inspiration to watch.
Thanks for everything you gave us over the years; what a shame that the world is full of meaningless turds who do nothing but take from this world and for some damned reason, live long and pointless lives. My better half put it well- she said obvoiusly the big fellah upstairs needed some really good people in heaven. I hope she's right. Rest in peace Steve and Brocky- youv'e both left a big gap behind you. Jamie

RIP Brocky
as has been said before, a great loss to motor racing and to australia but most of all to his family The car he was driving was a daytona coupe(replica) it was originally a ford engined car(at Le Mans) but i believe the one that he drove had an LS1 in it. ironically it was styled by a man called Peter Brock in the 1960's. RIP dude.
