I read something earlier today that said the cabin oxygen was turned off.

No idea how true, with how 'facts' are being thrown around.
But it might tie in with the fire theory.

http://edition.cnn.com/video/data/2....pilot.cnn.html

Interview of a retired Pilot that previously flew the missing plane, and knew the Pilot, listen to that finger snap.

I also seen a brief cockpit fire simulation on T.V, that was very interesting, but it hasnt been uploaded yet. Still doesnt explain the plane going into covert mode or the Pilots last message to the control tower 10-15 minutes after turning gadgets off.

Amazing still no good news

I think If I suggested in any form in general chat that a aircraft could go missing for weeks

I would be cut down in flames with people saying that will all the technology satalites ect it would be imposible

I really feel for the families especially the fact that many of the Chinese passengers were single child families

One thing a event like this does is make you realise that some things are really not that important and material things are just that.

I feel for the guys here in Broken hill who work in the mines lucky saftey is a big thing but there is always a risk you will not come home or like one guy two years ago is now a quadlapledgic and live in Adelaide

He is spoon feed his dinner and then his carrer wipes his butt after what a life changeing event

some time it is good to just say Hi to your partner and say how you feel ,and say hi to the kids

We to do tend to take life for granted so many times.

That's why before I go to work each morning my Mrs and I say I love you to each other and then I go. Because you might not get a chance to say that again.

But back on topic, a US ABC reporter who must be on the USN P-8 is saying (on Twitter) that "...Picking up "many large hits" on A/C radar. 30min out."

hang on...WHY HAS NO ONE ASKED that if the last communication from the pilots was AFTER the transponder went down or the plane CHANGED direction, why didn't the air traffic controller in charge of the plane not ALERT them or ask the pilots what's happening??? Am I missing something?

I think you have the sequence back to front. It's my understanding that the co-pilot responded to Malaysian air control & after that the plane transponder stopped & the change in direction occurred.
Looks to me as though something catastrophic occurred & the plane flew on until all fuel was exhausted....

I read an article yesterday on ninemsn where the Malaysian government got their timings wrong and they believe the last communication was made AFTER the plane had already changed direction...

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/201...ew-flight-path

according the article, the flight was already 12 minutes into its new flight plan before the pilot signed off.

Why would anyone turn off a transponder, then fly to avoid radar and literally end up in the middle of nowhere - to do what - die? I could understand if the plane was trying to make its way to somewhere like Pakistan, but this is now unbelievable...

Surely the pilot could have just nosed down the plane in the Gulf of Thailand.

My concern is more to do with how something that big can fly that far without arousing suspicion. Did they ever fly into Aussie airspace?

Security weakness this incident has exposed is massive.

Conspiracy theorists wet dream.
US oceanographer Dr Dave Gallo appeared on ABC 7.30 tonight. He was the bloke who coordinated the search and recovery of the 2009 Air France crash. He said that if the latest debris sightings are anything to go by, the wreck is likely to be at a depth of between 2000-4500m in relatively gentle undersea terrain. He said this was a depth at which oceanographers were quite used to working and searching and he was familiar with the area himself through previous research. The Air France wreckage was sucessfully located and recovered at 3800-4000m in a much more rugged search area. He said it could take years to recover this wreck, and it's a larger search area, but at that depth it's entirely possible.

Before cover ups get thrown around I think it's important to remember that this isn't the first plane to just vanish without a trace.
The have been 84 planes that have just dissapered since 1948.

Air travel has now become such an integral part of personal/business life for many and is accessable to more people now than ever before.

The idea that a plane can still just vanish in this day and age has shaken our entire social fabric. It has captivated the world because it was so indescriminatory and anyone of us could have been a passanger on that plane.

I think the only cover up you are going to find is the Malaysian Government trying to cover up its own incompetence and handling of the matter.

Dont get me wrong im deeply saddened for the families who have heard nothing about their loved ones, but the list of speculative theories is just to bizarre for words.

In this day and age of technology where a government can zoom in and tap in on your every move within 1m metre from a satellite, im finding it hard to swallow that absolutely no one knows the where abouts past or present this plane is.

It just up and vanished like a fart in the wind. How convenient.
