from 1 racer to another......
RIP Brocky.

i was never really a fan of his, even when he raced a Sierra in the early 90's, but whether u loved him or hated him, u can't help but feel a great deal of admiration for the achievements that he made.
he was simply best touring car racer this country has produced, bar none.

i'm still numb after hearing this at 3pm today.
i guess u just never think something like this could happen, but it proves that all life is fragile, because the next corner could be your last.

i know that i'll give Brocky a thought or 2 the next time i get in my race car, and will give my wife and daughter a kiss before i hit the track...

condolences to his family and friends.
u have left a HUGE legacy for us all, and u will never be replaced.

RIP.

I'd say he was just pushing the thing 110%. He's Peter Brock, he's a racer. I saw the footage of him from Targa Tassie and he was flat-out. Thats just how he was.

Default A great life taken too soon

I only met him twice and although he drove for the dark side and I did not exactly idolise him, I have always respected his emmence talent, a Great that took time for his fans, could work a crowd or wow people one on one. A true icon in the days when the term is over used. Motorsport has lost a great ambasador. Holden has lost their greatest hero.

I gained the greatest respect for him at a time when a lot had thought he lost the plot. The polarizor issue, although I don't think it worked, have no faith in the engineering (or lack of it) the thing is, he believed in it, and had the gumption to standup to the marketers. He would not be dictatated too and copped it sweet. I think he became a better man for it. He certainly gained more of my respect.

This is obviously not a great time for Aussie Icons, lets all hope there is a lull in their passing. May they grow old and have the time to themselves before their eventual passing.

May he rest in peace, may his family know he enjoyed his life and may the rest of us learn there is no such thing as imortality.

I was up there at the service area when the cars following brocky came in,they where really torn up.They just parked up after saying a couple of thinks and walked off to think. The driver of the lambogini said it was a bad corner that just comes up so quick and if you havent run this track before it might catch you out.
My regards to his family Another great Australian taken to early.

as a ford man 100% i still find the death of peter brock a massive shock.
and hearing some of your stories brought a tear to my eyes.( and i try to be macho!)
he was undoubtably the biggest aussie racing personality of the last 30+years..
he is beyond a brand whether he raced under a lion, oval or bowtie, when the mountain took more skill and the cars were not identical like today
he will always be remembered as Peter Perfect the one and only King of the mountain
R.I.P Brockie,

I too believe this year bathurst should be called the Peter Brock 1000.

If I recall correctly he drove a Ford Sierra back in 1989 in the ATCC. I think he even got pole position at Bathurst with this car in the same year.

While it would be great if they did that, unfortunately SuperCheap Auto hold the naming rights to the great race, so it would be up to them. Brocky was one of the cleanest racers out there. I've heard plenty of stories about his battles with Allan Moffat and Dick Johnson, and in all of them, the story is that they could race side-by-side for laps on end without making contact. It would have been great to see the Moffat-Brock battles, but unfortanately I wasn't born yet

Another thing I've noticed, on all the news updates they refer to his wife Bev, who he split up with a while ago. I always thought they never got married. She took his surname, and they had three kids together, but am I wrong in saying they were never technically married?

Hard to find words to say. What a loss. I had met him briefly and found him to be a total gentleman. The man was an incredible aussie icon and will be greatly missed. From asphalt to dirt the man had proved his worth over the years and the work he did for the community is a legacy that will be carried on no doubt. Rest in peace Peter you have been a great inspiration to me, Thank you.

Being an old ? ? ? I was lucky enough to see nearly all the Sydney races at Oran Park & Amaroo Park from 1971 onwards ,16-18 of us used to wait outside the gates from 6am to get a good seat . Also an occasional trip to Lakeside (Bro-in-Law used to race Mini's and went to QLD with him) and saw Brockie race there too. Watched Bathurst on TV , could see more of the race.

They were fantastic days , didn't matter who won , it was just "good racing"

Peter you will be a "Legend Sadly Missed"

I've just come back from the Targa West Show n Shine in Northbridge and I can tell you that the mood there was quite sombre. Everyone's feeling a bit low.
There was a minute silence at 8pm then three cheers for the champion that was Peter Brock. May he rest in peace.
