I went shopping today. Again barely any beef, chicken, rice, pasta. Got enough together to get my list done, but that was mostly luck as I went before 12pm. If you went after work you're ****ed.
No TP, a few small packs of tissues, no wipes, no sanitser, no liquid soap, barely any bar soap. It's basically all gone in the early trading hours. The funny thing is the rules are supposed to protect the elderly but they are the ones mostly not giving a **** about keeping any sort of distance I think it's time they start dividing the time in stores based on odds and evens or some other system. It is basically impossible to keep the gap in a supermarket even during the middle of the day. |

They need to shut down the self serve completely or at least ever second register.
I couldn’t believe how people just paid no attention to the social distancing... I gave one woman an earful and she just stared at me like I was speaking Latin or something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's hard to believe this toilet paper shortage is still going on. The govt should send in the army and break it's back then maybe the rest of the panic would settle down a little.

The worst thing about this crisis is it's showing how crap aussie stores are at inventory and delivery.
We're supposed to stay home but no one offers delivery, click and collect or local stock etc. All the local stores are just saying come one down and browse, get what you find and if you can't find it keep traveling going store to store all day/all weekend. If I get scomo bucks I may be forced to spend it overseas because the shops here just suck so much. I'm looking at a cheap phone now as my 4 year old $50 one is half stuffed and plan expired so I lost all my credit. I'm fussy wanting the best bang for buck but there's no range or delivery from department stores, I have to be in certain eastern states with for pick up. JB tells me to go to adelaide, big w tells me to go to NSW. Sorry, I'm not planning a road trip right now. My other option is spend the day visiting all the local shops and just seeing what they have. I don't want to do that either. Probably best if I buy from China if I want something delivered! If what's left of aussie retailers can't get their act together for online ordering they aren't viable at all! |

LOL, got a spare 5S just needing logic board and paired home button - are you phone tech handy?
Aside from that... However they’re doing it, the hoarders/preppers are still “winning”. Woolies run again this morning, mostly Caucasians in the shop (uncommon for the area); moderate stocks of chilled milk, fresh produce, nappies but zero tissues and paper towel, negligible Tex/Mex tucker. Plenty of toothpaste! I expected to be asked to pack my own bag at the express counter, but no. They have the sneeze shields up now, however. Would assume there are secret groups on social media where they (hoarders) buy for one another and swap about. |

I'm hearing you CB.
Either the Govt/manufacturers/transport/retailers are lying to us or the hoarders/resellers are very well organised. The hoarders/resellers should be treated like looters, easy to catch them on ebay at $10 a roll or more or start a hotline "Dob in a Hoarder". |

After weeks of nothing my local Woolies(Oakleigh) has T/P and tissues on shelves for the last 2 days in a row.
My Brother rang me to say his Woolies (Mt Matha) has carried stock for days if I still need stuff. I believe they are getting on top of the supply problems slowly. Still a lot of people hoarding a truck load of groceries!

No I believe our aerosols went; harder, earlier and now have no space left to hoard.
Just another example of how Melbourne is better than Sydney,

I've noticed things have started to get better out here. Toilet paper, tissues are appearing. Meat and veg. The shops are deserted so that helps. Hopefully people have got over it out here.

well my local a few weeks back seemed to be on top of the TP issue
but after that i noticed it decline again but not needing any wasnt worried how ever having still none (and im still not needing any atm) i made a comment about it surprising me at which they showed me the under counter stock they have broken down the roll packets and issuing them out two rolls a time in a veg plastic bag for sale no dry dog food for a while (seems people are stocking up on this too) nor certain brands of under arm spray deodorant one other thing that caught my eye was a packet of biscuits on sale for $3 sale tag next to usual price of $2.50

When Sven asked for deodorant at the shop the assistant asked if he wanted ball or aerosol. Sven replied no, I just want it for my armpits. Doug Mulray joke.

Sunday is the household shop, I nearly fell over at this sight.........
I haven't seen toilet paper on any of the local supermarkets shelves for three weeks. You have to hand it to the supermarkets, they are taking us for fools. They are forcing us to buy / spend more than we need to. They stock the shelves with only one brand and pack size, conning us into buying a 20 pack when perhaps only a 6 or 8 pack is needed. I filled the boot with the hope of not having to go back to a supermarket for a while, and we have toilet paper to last us a month.

consider the point that Kimberley Clark who produce 90% of legal big papthier are working 24/7 to satisfy demand. I'd guess at time it's easier to run one line and get as much through as possible rather than a different packing line for each size

The annoying thing is, I usually enjoy grocery shopping. (Yes, I'm a weirdo )
At the moment, all I want to do is get in and out as quickly as possible.

I've got a couple of old community white pages in the cupboard for when it gets desperate. I haven't been able to buy any TP since the madness started. The Quilton double length 9 pack has kept me going a while.

Woollies has stopped ordering toilet paper and paper towels in large quantities now. The orders we’ve been dispatching have gone from 5-7 pallets per store per day to 2-3.
Paper towels are so over stocked it’s ridiculous. I think we have 600 pallets in stock and we aren’t supposed to be a storage facility, just cross dock. |
