I've always said I'd name my first girl after my first girlfriend. Her name was Michaela.

I don't reckon your wife will be thinking along the same lines there for some reason. :

XR6 Gal got it spot on and if you're a Ford fan Shelby would perfect.

My father inlaw reckons you stand out on the back stairs and yell out the full name, i.e. call in the kids for tea/ in trouble etc..., and listen to how it sounds.

As some one else said, choose carefully sometimes the cute names can be upsetting when having to explain origins when meeting new people.

just kidding.. our 2nd daughter is due anyday now and we are leaning toward Kate-louise, Kate-Marie or Kate-lucia.. something like that. I like traditional names myself, dont care for the current trend of "out there" names..

Do what we did...

Narrow it down to 3 you like.
Pick the one that is not in either of your families... Or find a hat.

Otherwise wait and see what she looks like to make the final decision.
You find find shes not a <insert name> and say shes a <insert name>

My girl is Monique. I also like Shelby, Mia, Laine and Bella.

Good luck with your choice. I know we had a terrible time with the youngest ...... got it down to 3 names and discounted from there........ thought we had a nice but not overly used name Zac ....... until he went to school & there were 5 of them in 1 class OH:

Do a search on the top 10 girls names and don't pick one of those eg Emily,Caitlin
Be original but also think of the schoolyard and don't make it too wierd otherwise they will get teased!
