This is the only pure-gaming thread....everything else is focused...
So posted are some pictures from EverQuest II. It's like World of Warcraft, but not as stupid. From 2004-2008 I played on my original account. Here are some snaps from there. Plop was my main. I did not play online for a while. In early 2009, I started 'Darkfall', but it sucked. I returned to EverQuest II in March this year. I started a new account and new characters. My old account had over 300 plat and some of the rarest items ever that you cannot get anymore... So I decided to start again... This is Utwig. May not mean as much to me as Ploppy, but he's superior.

I'm sure Flying Fortress II just became abandonware as well. Didn't take much notice of where to download since I bought it at release. Never quite reached the lofty heights it wanted to but it came damn close. |

B17 Flying Fortress is from 1992.
A champagne year for gaming. A lot of people here reckon Starcraft is the greatest game ever...which I personally never really enjoyed...just another RTS. In 1992, Dune II was released, which like Wolfenstein 3D, was the catalyst for the massive growth in its respective genre. If you haven't played Dune II, then get DosBox and play it. MY favourite game ever is Star Control II. If you haven't played it, then do it now! For 1992, the graphics and sound are absolutely unbelievable. The dialogue is the best you will ever read in a game, and the music for a game will NEVER be beaten. Absolutely never.

'Abandonware' refers to games that are no longer sold, and can therefore be downloaded for free LEGALLY. You may need an emulator to get full sound support, since some games don't like Windows. DosBox is a good Dos Emulator, and works with most games. NB: NO CONSOLES ALLOWED!

My mate just recently gave me "Halo" so I've been playing that a fair bit. I'm actually pretty good... :
Does anyone know if it's possible to get games such as NFS for mac? If so, where? Cheers, Anthony

I liked the Half-Life mod 'Day of Defeat' 1.3.
In 1.3, the levels were brilliant, and no damn recoil, and no camping MG'ers. Back in 2001, I'd be up until 6am playing it, and go to bed when I heard the birds. It was a WWII mod. Brilliant.

I play a little IL2 and the new one of me is Arma 2.
Not a fan of mario bros shooters like Counter strike, Battlefield etc the ones where you can take 10 bullets run round the corner and pick up a magic health pack.

I play a bit of BF2 a while ago.
I still play a bit of America's Army, however with the new version, they have now just killed the genre of America's Army. Never seen such a worse release of a game, that had so much hype. It was 3 times as bad as Doom3. |

That is why Operation Flashpoint was good as a first person, because on that, you could not merely run in and go nuts. You had to be calculating, stealthy, and careful. With FPS nowadays, you can just bolt in and go nuts and get a little scratch for your troubles.
My favourite FPS ever would be Doom though...hands down. When that came out in 1993, nobody had clean underpants.

What am I playing atm?
UFC Undisputed on PS3, giggle your head off fun though the "build your own fighter" bit could be less cumbersome

Nothing much happening on the PC game front...
So here are some shots from Star Control II...from 1992... This is the box for the game... This is early into the introduction of the game. This is later into the introduction to the game. This is the starbase where you talk with the Commander (Hayes), offload minerals, hear of bulletins, as well as acquisitions. This is Talana. She is a Syreen. Her race is enslaved (like yours), as you were both part of the old alliance. This is a Vux. They consider humans absolutely repulsive. This is you flying in a solar system. This particular system is ours...'Sol'. Here, you are scanning a planet for minerals, energy (artifacts), and also biological readings. And this is you flying in Hyperspace. Here, you fly to other solar systems. The quadrant is a big place...literally hundreds of planets. Damn I love this game...
