If they sold 4 in a week that would make sense, but surely it wouldn't be long before they had another demo on the floor, seems a bit odd to me.

and so he bought another car because they didn't have one on the day? most new cars are ordered in these days anyway.
anyway not many new Calais on the road either.

I agree with everybody else basically because Falcon has gone . Come to terms with that well and truly now.. What would tick me off though as unlikely as it is would be if Ford in their infinite wisdom decided to call some obscure SUV or anything else for that matter Falcon...I'd never forgive them for that .

Nothing really appeals to be honest. Much has changed since Falcon left. They all chew fuel, aka chew your earnings after tax. A lot of the engineering is transverse engines and faux AWD in cars, sports cars don't fit boards and neither do dual cab ute trays really. Never thought there would be a racing class on ladder frame chassis in 2019... There's going to be a huge change and a lot of the auto industry will get washed away. Electric I-Pace, or even the little Honda e would be nice.

I dunno, for enthusiasm in the meantime, maybe a Yaris for buzzing around town being a maniac. Or better a Suzuki Swift. Driving a slow car fast is more fun than having to drive a fast car slow. And the petrol AWD Territory for the snow trips when it gets <-10C outside and the diesels all seize up with frozen fuel in their lines.

I know, I know, it seems quite a few forgot to top up last time we came up and had -10. I was quite chuffed with my 4.0I6 petrol motor that day.

Meanwhile, back in 2012:

https://www.autoblog.com/2012/04/02/...hilux-pickups/

That's what I'm talking about!

Further question: have any of our electric car owners here got experience in very cold conditions? How did the battery life go?

Slightly off topic but to emphasize the frozen fuel problem

People actually buy Stingers? I’ve seen more new Jinny’s in the past month than Stingers.
It seems like every time a car is overly hyped online, I hardly end up seeing them on the road. I don’t see many Ranger Raptors or Stingers. Two of the most hyped cars in the past couple of years.

Plenty of Raptors out my way. I see them all the time. Plenty of Mustangs as well. The same can't be said about the Stinger.

I love my 04 Falcon sedan, it is a brilliant vehicle great design good build quality a joy to drive. my only whinge is I was dumb in not purchasing it brand new. Bought second hand with 241,000 kms, an ex fed govt vehicle so I am about a third owner. As a retired motor mechanic I have spent over $7,000 in parts to have it as new as possible. Itt is worth every penny spent. I would buy a brand new Falcon at any cost
Tried to get a new FG prior to the end of production and contacted many dealers.

Just to reiterate:
  1. I don't believe that a return to manufacturing is on the cards for Australia. And if the government did change drastically change things to facilitate it, then we'd be building Rangers or Focuses.
  2. My questions are predicated on the notion that Ford finally does what it has been promising and builds a 4 door Mustang.
  3. Such a car need not necessarily be called a Mustang. But in any event the name is not all-important.
  4. By definition, its not going to be a mass-market family car. It wouldn't be a replacement for your old taxi-pack, more like a replacement for the F6/GS/GT
  5. Price would presumably be a premium over the comparable Mustang.
  6. "Made in America Quality" would be in the same vein as any other American car; Mustang, Jeep, etc.

Would I buy one?
I won't be buying for a while, unless that Lotto jackpot comes off. I'm hoping to be able to buy an FG2 or FGX GT before they get too old. And yes, I dream of a Mustang.
So yes, it would definitely be on my wish list.

Strange, I've seen more stingers up my way than commodores or maybe I'm getting the commodore confused with all the other Holden junk on sale at the moment. In fact I parked next to a Singer GT at the pub for lunch today. They look pretty impressive.

Edit... Oh and if Ford would produce a mustang 4 door... I'd seriously consider it, if it wasn't some thrown together dogs breakfast with the usual American cheap feeling. And no I don't desire a mustang.

No it hasn't. The Territory in China is a Ford joint venture. The trademark is still Fords.

Agree. Our Territory from same age is at 300,000kms almost, yet is still more refined than competition from the Lion of the same age, and even a few new cars. Our youngest picked up a good FG, and that is another step of refinement better. They built good cars before it all shut.

I can't see there being a 4 Door Mustang.
It would be a hideous creation.
At the moment the Mustang is approx 200mm shorter than what the FGX was.
If you were to stretch 200mm behind the front seats and adjust the roof line ect it would be out of proportion.
It would have to be totally new design without the elongated bonnet to achieve more cabin space.

Ford have or are in the process of discontinuing sedans across the US lineup. Fiesta, Focus, Fusion and Taurus. Why would they make a four door Mustang when their actions to this point indicate the sedans are not their focus.

Just be thankful Ford have new RWD/AWD architecture and are on a bit of a minimalist, elegant design rampage with their US SUV's. Eg Explorer/Aviator, the new Expedition.

When I first saw the Aviator, I was gobsmacked, here was the minimalism and elegance and chrome highlighting you might see inside of a ZC 351 Fairlane - and on the outside it's strong straight lines and an overall shape as distinctive as a Rangey, but in Ford's sense of proportion. Filled with tech and great design, they really are desirable.

Those are really the successors of the Falcon/Territory, in today's Ford market. Mr Ford, can we please have Nice Things?
