The missing front grille will take some getting used to, but the interior is phenomenal.

Hmm, I like every angle except that grille. I'm a bit of a fan of a proportionate upper and lower grille, it just looks unbalanced and too top heavy to me.

The first thing I thought when looking at it was "sucker fish"!

I'd be happier if it had a blacked out bar like the Lancer shown...

Some colour changes might help some people like it ;)

First off, Performance Blue:

Then we have Colorado Red:

What about Sea Grey? (Poor imitation I must add - more so than the rest! :P):

Ah! Ultimate Green, as debuted on the LV RS:

Second last, we have good ol' Electric Orange:

And here's a new one from me, something along the lines of Viper, but with a bit more blue - I call it Wild Violet :

Enjoy!

Love it or hate it, it certainly stands out from the donor car.

Re: the interior, leather bound 'dash bits' are something you'd think would be on something like an FPV...yet here it is on a Focus. Global ONEFORD cars FTW!

I quite like it, looks alot better than both the WRX and Ralliart Lancer, I'm sure it would be alot of fun to drive as well.

Thanks Fordman6, it looks great in blue.

I think it will grow on you, well I'm hoping it does, as I love the current XR5.

I did a really quick minor chop of the front headlights and front bar for two reasons.

ONE I think the headlight needs to follow that subtle line you can see above where I'm guessing the indicator would sit. Making it a little more pointy.

TWO I think the big air intake with the 3 little ones is too much, so I made the main one BIGGER and closed the smaller middle one.

Oh and added an XR5 turbo badge

Subtle, but I think it makes a positive difference.

Default open-mouth

it looks as though it has its mouth open, and that kind of makes it look not so aerodynamic.

They definitely made it look different, but I don't really like it, to be honest. I think after a while I might appreciate it more.

It has a look that piques my interest. Front looks like the bastard child of a Lancer and an Aston and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

The back, not a fan of the current rear of the Fiesta, this one's a little better but would have to look in the flesh.

Interior looks pretty flash.

Ford introduces airbags with enhanced crash protection, debuting on 2012 Focus

by Steven J. Ewing (RSS feed) on Sep 16th 2010 at 12:01AM

Ford has given us a sneak peek at its production-ready 2012 Focus, and while our lips may be sealed about its specs and our impressions, we can now give you the lowdown on the Blue Oval's new airbag technologies that will debut in its forthcoming C-segment stunner.

For the driver, the new steering wheel airbag uses a tether system that pulls in the lower section of the bag back toward the dashboard. This creates a small pocket that Ford engineers say will soften the blow of the airbag to the driver's chest and ribs, reducing the threat of bodily injury in a frontal crash.

The side airbags also work to prevent injuries to the driver and front passenger by adding shoulder vents that stay open during inflation, reducing pressure for smaller occupants. Taller folks will block these vents with their shoulders, and this added pressure can actually prove to be helpful.

Along with the shoulder vents, Ford has used an adaptive venting system in its passenger-side front airbag, which diverts some of the inflation gas outside of the bags. This better protects passengers by enhancing head and neck protection by matching inflation force with the size of the occupant, which is monitored by the weight sensors already built into the seats.

As you'd expect, these safety features won't just be limited to the 2012 Focus. Ford says that this technology will quickly spread to the rest of its model range within the next few years. To see exactly how these systems work, follow the jump to watch an instructional animated video, as well as actual crash test footage. Ford's press release is available for your reading pleasure, as well.

2012 Ford Focus to get rib-protecting airbag
By Brett Davis | September 17th, 2010

A day after Ford released images of the upcoming 2012 Ford Focus, the company has just released more details of the new model. The car will be equipped with an airbag designed to protect the rib-cage area, and, one that will automatically adjust pressure according to the occupant’s stature.

Although it kind of looks like a bottom, the new airbag design is purely about protecting the occupant’s vitals – that’d be the head and neck area – whilst relieving the rib-cage of undue pressure during the instant of deployment.

During a crash, the top half of the occupants body will normally be thrown forward more than the lower torso, this means most airbags overcompensate for the space in between the lower chest and stomach area by trying to ‘catch’ the lower body even though it’s either already there or hasn’t moved quite enough, causing the airbag to put excess pressure on the rib cage area.

The system will also introduce an airbag ‘venting’ technology. This takes into account the seating position of the driver and passenger which is then conveyed to the airbag sensors and computer, resulting in reduced or increased airbag pressure according to the driver’s height. A taller person requires more pressure to ‘catch’ because of whiplash trajectory, whilst a shorter person requires lower pressure due to lesser trajectory.

Ford says the new airbag system will be standard equipment on all 2012 Ford Focus models and eventually offered in other vehicles in the Ford range.

This new Focus ST gets better every time you look at it. The only bit I don't like is how the Ford badge has been integrated into the bumper and bonnet. It's not the grille that looks out of place, it's the line between the bonnet and bumper and they way they have put the badge in the middle. The bonnet having a recess to allow the Ford badge in looks like an after thought. This works on the Fiesta though IMHO. Be great to see a front on angle as the badge could be bigger, making it in proportion with the grille.

Every thing else however is pure MK2 Focus ST. The proportions, even the headlights look similar. They've just refined it and added a big more personality to it. Fantastic looking car, I especially like the tail. Taillights are working for me now.

I think it is insanely hot, I would love one. My only qualm is the rear, but it might look better in person. The front is vaguely remeinscent of some deep-sea leviathan, but it's definitely a predator.... imagine seeing this race up behind you!

Very impressed.
