mate, 8 years or so ago , 150rwkw in a 4.0ltr was worth bragging about and really was fun to race at most dragways in australia . but as you know these days the only time you look at vehicle at the local track is when it's pulling 250rwkw or more.

In all honesty even if you can manage an incredible 160rwkw in a N/A 4.0ltr the bet is you will get over it in a few months as the cars are just not geared right and kerb weight factors are against us and you will need at least 50rwkw more for a serious smile on ur dial !!!!! just my 2cents

i would have to disagree with a true 160rwkw you are looking at a 13 second pass which i know it is for me and probally most people on here a fun daily driver. Plus i like being able to fit 5 adults with some luggage with some room to spare.

My 2 Cents

srry guys my mistake i just thought if tripower could do a 14.2 with 150kws and 3.9s then a 13 would be possible with 4.11s and an extra 10kws. I stand corrected but still a low 14 second car is a nice daily, thats my thoughts anyway.

well my crap box is pulling 136 rwk at the moment on chiptorques dyno compared to when it was running 158 rwk on cnj's with simalar setup (same cam head)different chip and headers though.i'm looking forward to the cooler months ,i reckon i'l get a new pb out of the car.like others have said dyno's meen nothing , just a figure to brag about.mind you i didn't mind telling everyone how much stick it had when i was pulling good numbers on the dyno though.
if you pulled 160rwk on chiptorques dyno i'd garentee you would run a 13 sec pass .i reckon 145/160 rwk would run 13 secs on a good night ,with the car set up properly + getting traction and good air.

thats right mate, theres more time to be had in diff gears ,clutches (stallies),shift kits (shift points),slicks ,suspension and weight reduction.than just totaly working a motor.but all of the above don't make no difference when its on a dyno.

you had a chance to run yours down the strip yet?

Dynos are just nice numbers. I have gone on three different dyno dynamics dynos here in Sydney in one day. In Blacktown I sored 110rwks,In granville I scored 133 rwkws and Silverwater I scored 141 rwkws. I was too scared to head east for more dynos in case my driveline could not handle all the power gain I got from simply driving from the western suburb to the east
Let the timeslips do the talking. :

too right on the timeslips. Its about as accurate as you'll get bearing in mind temperature differences, humidity levels and track temps.

the red one that did 13.3 had 3.9diff ratio, it also had a t5 with ceramic clutch didnt it..... its also had things taken out of it to make it lighter.......... i think that was pretty much the pinnacle to be had, i would like to see someone beat that with the n/a 6... i think you would be clutching at straws to beat that time.

edit: that car was basically set up to run the fastest quarter they could.....

Right, and I've had 150+rwKw readings on two seperate non-JMM dynos. On one of those occasions (an XR club dyno day) I had a higher reading than at least 8 XR8s (all pre-AUII.) You don't do that without having a bit more power than the average 4.0l six.

I know like everyone else that dyno readings aren't worth shite as a stand-alone figure and are only useful as a relative tuning tool. I know my car can be faster down the quarter, the only problem is the chunk of meat behind the wheel (no wuss-a-matic for me...)
