I think it is goof for a mild update - I would have liked to see BFII style Headlights (assuming FG ones were out of the Q)

New plastic bars, different bling on the quarter panels and blinkers in the side mirrors, after all this time? Geez...

Do the CGI pics look like they have 6 piston brembos at the front or is it just me?

I don't know why Ford bothered with this "upgrade" the average person will not be able to tell the difference from the old one from the new one....Complete waste of time

Is it just me, or do many of the CGI images show the wheels bigger, or it has a higher road-height or something?

The only one that doesn't look to have bigger wheels/ride height change is that Turbo pic above.

GUYS,

i dont think even a major facelift will help the Territory. remember when it used to hover in the top 10 sales when it first came out? have you noticed its not even in the top 20 now, and hasnt been for a while? obviously the petrol prices have had an effect but do you know what the real problem is (flame arrestor on full blast....)

its the constant electrical problems that they have. I know 2 people with new territories always whinging about shitty electrical problems), and i know a person who works at a major ford dealership, and the stream of electrical problems has tainted it reputation. We arnt talking EA type reputation, but its bad.

With the new model coming in 2010 . You could not justify spending too much cash you just would not get a return . I would think that even these parts they have put on will get carried through to the new model and the rest will probly change then .
I think the real problem for the terri is its just to long for a complete update to the fg styling.
I doubt ford believe this facelift will bolster sales up to what the have been in the past . An if they do i fear for ford australia.

Didn't they learn from the FG XR?...remember that car was rejected by the dealers because it was too similar to the BF version and the front end had to be changed

The Turbo Territory looks different enough but the other models are all too similar....Watch the sales slide ....they must think we are idiots

As far as I know, they couldn't change the mechanicals too much because of the impending emmisions regulations changes, so without investing a huge amount of money and time, this is probably the best they could do until at least late next year.

Has any body got a shot from the rear?

Also with that Magenta Terry, is that a new colour for the Falcon/ Territory range, or is it a bit distorted from the picture?

Hmmm so they gave it a BF Mk2 nose... to me the Turbo looks closest to the Mk1, if they changed the rear lights too it may be enough change to get some people to want to change up.

That doesn't really make sense, the VE range (especially the luxury end) is plagued with more electrical problems than the Territory. Yet it is Australia's #1 seller.

I'd say it's more along the lines of dated looks, lack of diesel option and the 4 speed.

Anyone that was seriously shopping for a Territory would appreciate the updates. Sure it's no major improvement but I imagine it's designed to keep sales relevant rather than increase them. There is still nothing that touches the Turbo model in it's class that I know of. Should make a nicer looking F6X if FPV decide to go there. These are a uniquely Australian SUV's, not a global SUV like it's competitors. If it's not good enough then buy an import. 'Our' Terrority will eventually go away and we'll have American built Ford SUV's to contend with. Been there, done that remember.

Diesel - will come out with the new model...not an upgrade if it does eventuate.

6 Auto - why? Having a 6 on the higher spec models makes them worth the premium.

FG turbo motor - Like all of the FG I6 they don't comply with Euro 4 so you cant update these motors. Also post 2010 none of these current motors will be allowed to be used. So better of waiting till 2010 to put them in a proper upgraded terri.

Oh well, I guess I'll "struggle by" with the G6ET for a 18 months....at least this time there's no decontenting and I'd guess if you add up the new features gained as standard they outway the cost increases enough to roll back into a new one. BTW, is the DVD roof mounted?
