Wet stuff falling - Page 2

We were lucky we didn't get as much as Mangrove Mountain area .... I had been keeping an eye on BOM the entire time though and the amount of rain they had been getting was amazing.

I recorded just over 200mm at my place over the 3 days ... so I had a decent amount anyway.

I am lucky my property has decent run-off and most of it went into the dam (the fullest it has been in 15 years ... that's what our neighbours have said).

Our horses were out in it though ... poor buggers.

I didn't mind the rain ... it was a high wind that was damaging ... we had a couple of trees down in the side paddock ... but no actual building damage .... which we were lucky.

I feels sorry for the people who lost loved ones and had property damage as well. My Brother and sister-in-law are consoling the family who were involved in the Somersby Old Pacific Hwy collapse (where the AU went down). And to think I had actually met the family once before as well. Small world.

What a weekend I had,went out to the farm to do some work on the house,and what an ordeal that turned into.
Got there on friday evening and the creek was too full to cross so stayed at the pub and by saturday morning it had gone down enough to cross.
Usually the road is quite good going in,spent a bit of money last year getting it into shape,but have had a bloke cutting ironbark on the place and he had torn up a bit of the road with his tractors,the 4wd was out of commision with a holed radiator so silly me (being keen to finish off gyprocking) went up with the 2wd dual cab.
Anyway far from doing any work on the house I spent 18 hours digging the car out of a bog,the neighbors tractor was also bogged to the axles so no help was available.
My girlfriend had to be back tuesday for uni and was peaking about it so I had no choice but to dig,starting at mid afternoon sunday I went till the early hours monday morning getting it out,had to cut 3 trees down,and use all the left over timber and plywood I had laying around to get it out.
It was bogged up to the floor pan originally,heres a couple of pics with it half way out.

Oh and mothernature the neighbor recorded 165mm on friday IIRC,worst part for me is I didnt have the new rainwater tank connected,its just still laying there in the paddock empty :(

Glad you got out all OK nugget ....... looks like your ute got off better than our cruiser too :( (tale of that is in the fourby show n shine) ......

All up we got 118mm rain which has been amazing, a dam that had been put in in 2000 has finally filled up. We havent been to the other side of the property as yet to check the other dams (the tale in the fourby thread will tell why)

We knew your way had got more rain when they hit the local news before anything else ;) Had mentioned to the OH that I wondered how you guys got on ......

Mangrove Creek dam actually SAW some of the rain this time!!!!!
Water level has risen by 5.3m (yes METRES) or around 5% of its capacity - apparrently it's received somewhere around 12 megalitres. Dam level was under 15% last Thursday before the storm.

We got a phone call on Saturday to leave work and a couple of hours later our warehouse flooded. We reckon we have lost roughly $120,000 worth of furniture. Oh thats in Singleton btw.

Good to hear your guys finally getting some rain there

I drove down the Newell yesterday from Goondiwindi through to Vic border and there was lying water along most areas roadside. It was the same a couple of weeks back on the way up too, the paddocks had been freshly cultivated and seeded and now are all green with the new growth

It is good to see that it is getting to where it is needed ... my Brother in law is down in Goulburn at the moment at the Academy ... and he said it has been pouring down there ... last time I was down there it was as dry as anything ... apparently the damn there is nearly full.

I know they were doing it tough down there ... at least this has helped .. although so much in a short period ... it'll help for the future.

I thought you were closer to the Blue Mountains Lisa, or was that where you used to be?

Keep an eye out for mexicans in caravans on the road too, there were heaps making their way up north!
