well got hit with a bomb shell today

i have to stay there for another 16 weeks

my work place agreement states i have to give 2 weeks notice per yr i have been there

i have around 2 weeks holidays and around 4 weeks of sickies owing

part of the agreement states that you cant use more than 1 weeks sick leave if you give your notice

so i am stuck there for a while yet

What happens if you say " Bash your work place agreement up your clacker!" and never come back? What action can your employer take against you?

My now ex employers tried to tell me I had to hand in my resignation before I took all my annual leave (640 hours), otherwise they couldn't hire anyone and train them to take my place.

I laughed and told them they'd get their 4 weeks notice as I was legally bound to give them and no more.

Today was my last day.

Hope the next 16 weeks goes quickly for you, though it probably won't feel like it.

Jason, is this a agreement that you personally signed ? Is it a union shop ? Its obviously not but are there individuals there who are union members ?

I am in a similar situation, where my company that I work for is great, except for some of the unrealistic deadlines that must be met. Its in the Steel Fabrication and its in a medium sized firm ( around 70 workers all up) with 2 workshops.

Anyways at the moment we have a few large tripper sections and Stacker/Conveyors for the Northwest as well as a Few bucket wheels, chutes and Reclaimers. Its all going to the Northwest and its all a considerable size so No Way it can be trucked, it has to be shipped..

Here Lies the Dilemma.

With a Month to go, it has to be Fabricated (halfway through), weld tested, sent to the paint yard, blasted and painted, trucked 20 km with full police escort and road blockages, then fitted up with idler's and wearplates, then checked and inspected. Enough for 3 months work...

because of the deadline the Barge has to be Moored up if the deadline isnt met, which will eat into the progress payments, which will effectively see the job done for free. This is with blokes working 12 hr days with Nighshift doing the other 12.

I feel sorry for the company, untill I look in the bosses carpark, Anyways all I can do is a Honest Days Work. :

I posted a few times about the rubbish I was going through last year. I got scr*wed over by a new boss for a promotion and just hated the place.

I ended up getting a better job with the opposition and about to crack 3 months and the people here are great.

The communte is twice as long but I don't care.

The difference it has made to my quality of life is worth every bit….and I'm sure it has for you too
