Maybe I was unlucky but my VH SLX 253 4 speed sedan (1986-1989) and my VX SS manual sedan (2004-2006) were pieces of junk and I will never stray to the dark side again.

Of course, any yellow first series Monaro looks the goods....

Oh yeah and the new HSV with the retro VC Brock paintwork was as good a car as I've seen in a long time...

IMHO

The only real lookers (when set in context of the year they were produced)
Are the Brougham, and the VL.

And if the VX was up against the EF it might have pipped it at the post (Holden were almost a decade late in the looks department here)

Again IMHO

So he had to sell the car (less an engine) and bought a Corona.

He is still annoyed to this day about what happened to it.

VN group A ss.

Also the WH2 Statesman are the best of the modern cars in my opinion, just alot of class about em.

Wouldnt mind A9X or a LX SS hatch.

From the 70s

HX/Z Statesman Deville
HX/Z Premier Sedan
LJ Torana with a 202

From the 80s

VH Commodore SLE V8 in Two Tone
Any of the HDT VH's
VN Group A SS

or possibly a HR Premier. Not a big fan of any holden pre 75 or post 90 really.

It would have to be an XU1 with those triple webers or maybe an S4 EH. Holden lost there way when they went with the Opel based Commondore in the late 70's.

HG/HK Monaro, but it has to be stock with the hubcaps. Also have a soft spot for EH panelvans, not stock. There used to be one that drove around town painted orange(similar to hemi orange) dropped on its guts with fat jellybeans on it. Used to give me a slight chub....lol

Well I'm very partial to an EH, HD, HR in a Premier (mainly because thats my era), the HQ was way ahead of it's time, recessed door handles, sleek chrome bumpers with the tail lights recessed, but I do luv a good VL Calais.

I had one of these, was the last of the 4 Door Monaro's & had the Chrome Jag like Spoke Rims although I Fitted Mine with Dragways

I also had a HK 327 in silver mink, a 4 Door HQ GTS 308 Manual & a EH.

Fave for me would be the HQ as that was my First V8 (I was 17) & it was the mustard Yellow with Black Stripes with a Highly Modded 5 Litre which I had done.

Had a 3.55 Diff Ratio from memory & it had Fantastic Performance

If I had to pick a more Modern version that I could not afford at the time would have been the Brock VL SS Group A in Red

Default FAV HOLDEN (got us a deposit)

got to say a ht gts monaro... I bought a basket case about 10 yrs ago for $300 (seemed dear @ the time). We spent alot of time and what seemed a lot of $ at the time to restore it,then about 5yrs ago we sold it,which enabled us to get adeposit for a little shack.(9000). We would now have to sell the house to get deposit on the monaro,Who knew!.

A clean straight VS Pov pack ( I know it may seem funny but the VS for me is one of those cars that looks great when lowered without hanging a bodykit/Chromies/cannon exhaust/stickers) Unfortunately for me it seems everyone who buys one hacks into it.

Possibly even a VX Senator.
