Have a look for the RS200 evolution that THE Stig (not some lame Top Gear pretender) was driving at Pikes Peak in 2004.
900hp makes for a quick grandfather (prop rebuilt after every event)

No as far as I know, biggest engine was the 3L V6.

Interesting thread though, not sure how they put the new Focus RS at the top of the tree when it hasn't been released yet... There are lots of US and Aussie Fords that would push most of the 11-20 listed cars out of that list in a heartbeat, most of the top 10 you can't argue with IMO.

ehast, can you tell us any more about the XT racing in the UK?

about 20k before a refresh of course thats on the street with a few competitions thrown in, dont use the Nitrous on the street.
Actually an engine of mine which first took the rwd Topspeed record back in 2002 did 27k before a rebuild & that included 20 -1.5 mile Topspeed runs.
My car has big Power for a street cat but is nowhere near the Power thats found in YB drag engines, they go down to 1.8 litres rev it to 10k + & I believe the best is around 1070bhp by Fenspeed in Scandinavia off Nitrous, mine makes only 800 but has is full 2.7bar of boost by 4.3k.

Unfortunately not- the Essex V6 3l was the biggest donk used- it was then replaced by the German built Cologne 2.8l V6 in the eighties. The Essex v6 was 3.1l at biggest in the RS3100 capris- there is a lovely blue one that gets around Northern Sydney too...mmmmm

It would be foolish to dismiss "Pommy 4cyl" cars as all crap- many of the Fords have a much bigger worldwide racing pedigree than any of the Aussie V8's- i am not berating them as everyone knows I am a huge fan of the Aussie V8's but their market penetration was so much bigger resulting in huge rally scores. It is the application that matters- no point in comparing apples and pears.
If you have had the pleasure of driving a rear wheel drive Esky on dirt tracks, you will know what I mean! A standard v8 wouldnt stand a chance of keeping up.

Yeah, only 150HP at 2500 and pretty flat to 180hp at 4000 before the turbo really kicks in - poor bugg#r, it must be terrible having only 150-180hp to play with while waiting for that turbo to spool up........

and #2 "If our top fast Fords were picked on visual impact alone, then the Escort RS Cosworth would be a clear winner".

60-100 in 2.7secs says your wrong pal, the car has a device called a gearbox.
0-100 6.9, 0-150 12.6, 0-180 17.8, those times aint bad when you consider im apparently waiting 20secs to get going. MUPPETS !!!.

Whats the 0-60 time though, I bet its pretty damn slow. No boost = no go.

Have another look at that graph and you'll find the figure you are quoting is for the torque not HP. At 2500rpm it's making all of about 70hp rising to about 120hp at 3500rpm and 180hp by 4100rpm when the turbo wakes up. At sane velocities and in traffic it'd still be out accelerated by a well tuned Corolla or Getz to 60-80kph.

I'm running an AU2 XR8 as my daily driver over here in the UK.
Insurance is £240 ($511 to you) per annum, petrol is a little pricey but not exactly a deal stopper. She is a lot cheaper to run than my old 3 door cossie was as well.
I didn't notice any crumbling infrastructure as I drove into town this morning, where I managed to squeeze it into a parking space just vacated by a teeny range rover...
The car is normally parked in the garage but when left outside she has yet to be attacked by vandals or assoorted scum!!!!

Now, where did I leave my warm beer, slippers and pipe.....

Nothing new about Aussie Fords (and Holdens) in the UK and Europe, growing up as a kid their in the early 60s to late 70s i can recall an XW GT, XY Wagon, XB Sedan and a HQ 2 door Monaro, and im pretty sure i saw P5 Fairlane once, but at the time i thought it was a Yank Tank.

I remember my uncle buying a brand new Valiant Charger off the showroom floor in the UK in the mid 70's, bright Orange it was, the top of the range sporty one, was it called an RT or something?

It certainly turned heads back in those days, I remember sitting in the back of this thing when I was a kid with my cousin looking out the window, I remember clearly how everyone just stared at it .... quite a standout car for the day, rather noisy as well if I remember correctly, big V8 thing.

There are loads of American Muscle cars in the Uk and quite a few Aussie ones as well.

Here's an 11 year old EL Falcon, over 100,000km for $5,500

......As he already stated in that post, 0-100 in 6.9.

If it wasn't engineered for top speed, it would be considerably quicker I suspect!

Guys, there are a lot of silly comments getting made here by people who don't actually know what they are talking about, some comments seem to be just hanging the proverbial on others with little to back up their statements.
Personally, i think we should be encouraging people to join from overseas so that you might be able to learn a bit of what goes on over there in the auto world..... a lot more than many here seem to think I suspect.

Guys, there are a lot of silly comments getting made here by people who don't actually know what they are talking about, some comments seem to be just hanging the proverbial on others with little to back up their statements.
Personally, i think we should be encouraging people to join from overseas so that you might be able to learn a bit of what goes on over there in the auto world..... a lot more than many here seem to think I suspect.
