Made in Queensland for Victoria when Vic had a problem.

Yeh
Spot on, trying to get plates with numbers from the era 1970-72.
I remember the Murray Carter XY having KYU as well.

Thanks for all the replies, appreciated.

Gxx-xxx plates were issued during most of the 1950's.

That Vicroads website is hopeless, not accurate at all.

Here in SA you can buy R or S series plates, which were the standard plates issued between 1966 and 1981 i believe, as re-issues direct from transport SA; so long as they haven't been registered in the past 5 years.

Can you do something similar in Vic? or would you have to get custom plates and customize them to look like they were made in 1972? or find someone with original plates, buy the rights and put them on your own car?

Silly questions

Yeh we have the same with Vic Roads, you can buy the original looking plates, black background with white writing with Vic on them.

I was spewin when I registered my XY, with the local Vic Roads Drone insisting I couldn't re-register my '71 XY with the original KUK*** plates, even if i was willing to pay more for personalised/custom. Told me I had to hand them in. Should've gone down there with no plates on it! I put another set on that I had, all done.
Then weeks later I'm told yeah you can by a friend, you just have to pay the premium. Made me angry when I heard that I tell you, having lost my nice original steel Black & White Vics.
Are the new ones the same font as the old, and with Vic in the correct spot?
