Staples makes holes in the paint. I used 1cm wide strips of plastic looped around the wire then both ends of the strip poked in the gap between the the gutter and the facia board, underneath the gutter. Plastic strips cut from icecream containers or the black chain stuff used to tie plants to stakes was used, depending on the gap between the gutter and the facia.

On bricks and tiles, it was more difficult to stay stuck, especially when it rained. I ended up using aluminium duct tape cut into 1cm wide strips.

hardware stores sell plastic gutter clips that hold the lights in place....dont use anything that will scratch or puncture your paint on the house

on the roof, if you have iron, I unscrew a tek screw and insert a piece of wire bent around to hold the tree and father xmas I built out of 1/4" rod and lights

Who's seen what?

I was driving home from Cambridge Park last night and saw a heap just off the side of the northan road at Crainbrook, I was also at North Richmond for a fire job last week and coming back down the hill I saw the usuals over that side are in fine form

Also on the way home from a fire I saw the south Windsor crowd are back and as good as ever

I'll try to get actual streets for all these in the next few days

I don't know that we'll get time to do a cruise (Ide still like too perhaps Wednesday, Thursday?) if we can make it work we could meet up at say krispy Kreme, plan a route from the intelligence we've all done and then go on, then we can pull out as we need and the keen ones continue until the last mans standing?

No one bothers in our estate anymore, there is a big effort all the time by the first house, the rest of us, no one cares unfortunately.

We don't even have the council christmas decorations on the light poles this year, poor effort by everyone.

If I was in charge of the house, I'd leave them up 24/7 but just turn them on in December, because I'm lazy.

One year we left the Christmas tree setup the whole year

Got a few displays round near me now... one house put in a big effort.

Going to go for a cruise during the night this week to Windaroo, Belmont and Tingalpa (for the SE QLDers) cause there are some streets that have the whole street lit up.

You can buy this software from Light O Rama
http://www.lightorama.com/ShowtimeSoftwareSuite.html

And then you will need a controller for your lights, skies limit here
Do you want just 8 channels of lights or couple thousand lol
All controllable through the software
This is just 1 example of controller you could use

I run a $10,000.00 Light Display here in Peterborough South Australia.

It is just like the computerised American Style Light Displays that many of us would know of.

I WILL be taking some videos in the next 2 nights and will add the links once I have finished editing the videos

I doubt any of you have a lights display quite as dazzling as this house in California
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yh99e8BSer0

A matter of fact, it's attracting a bit of controversy as it's so bright.

Jan Stewart's Christmas lights display features 65,558 lights flashing in sync with a pounding musical soundtrack.

Hundreds of locals are turning out each night to see the dazzling display.

"When I saw it I was like, 'oh my gosh'. You can see if from space, probably," one teen told KTLA.

But neighbours have complained to the police, saying the lights are too bright and intrusive.

"It's more appropriate for the Las Vegas strip than a residential area," one resident said.

Police fined Ms Stewart for noise violation but she vowed to continue the display.

“If [the neighbours] don’t like it I’m sorry, you know,” she said.

“It isn’t gonna last forever. It’s Christmas, have a good time! Merry Christmas!”

It is the second year Ms Stewart has installed the lights display, which she says is in memory of her late husband.

Ms Stewart says she gets satisfaction from the lights which "make people smile"
