So an iPhone may not be the best on the market, or the fastest, or have the most features.
But it does everything I/we need it to, in a package that looks great Sounds like a Falcon! And yes, Android fanboys are the worst! They won't tell you how good their phone is, just how "bad" the iPhone is. |

I have owned an IPhone and currently have a work provided 4S . Not an android fanboi at all just someone who wants a phone that works and is practical to use . My Galaxy S3 and before it my S2 are so overwhelmingly and comprehensively better than the IPhone it beggars belief . Both my S3 and the 4S are connected to Telstra and when in regional Australia half the time the IPhone wont even sense the network when the S3 is still powering on . Also the fact you don't need a magnifying glass to see the onscreen info on the S3 and I could go on and on and on . Lets face facts , the IPhone is and always as been grossly overhyped and relies more on being " THE " phone to be seen with rather than its actual performance to sell .

Apple maps shows my home town about 50km away from where it actually is. apple app is a lot worse than google's, but only because google has had time to work out the bugs.

so true so why do crapple lovers insult owners of other phones as soon as we point out the shortcomings of the over hyped overpriced over regulated ( the apps are tightly regulated by crapple) poor performing phones made in factories so bad that workers suicide http://www.smh.com.au/technology/tec...0527-wgjo.html .
if you like your IPhone fine but allow us our right to own others and state why we think your IPhone is not as good as you pretend it is

I think this thread could be saved as a template for future fanboi threads as is done in for sale.
From now on cut and paste: Item 1: Item 2 Apple: Android GT: F6 GT: T3 Holden: Falcon XR8: XR6T LPG: Petrol Ethanol: Petrol V8: T6 FWD: RWD It will save a whole lot of time as the same levels of emotion, logical thinking and credible evidence are demonstrated usually by the same people..... |

I guess I didn't really justify my dislike of Apple so here goes
I passed on windows phone because it is really still in it's infancy and not yet well supported with apps but this will probably change and I will review in the future. I also passed on the Nokia after many years using Nokia because the went to a non user serviceable battery Currently I think the Android phones have the best balance but I always review the market before purchase. am I prepared to look at Apple? yes if they change their restrictive practices but I don't see that happening. I am upgrading to a galaxy S3 4G this weekend after 3 weeks of research and careful consideration. I have found this method has served me well over the years with only one lemon so bad Telstra took it back ( after 3 handset replacements)

Me thinks they would have ended up wherever their mapping program told them, regardless of the device running it!

The original point was that the new apple maps are not the same as the old ones and seems to have much less accurate data for Australia than the previous version. What once worked now does not. It would be like you buy a FG, drive it for a couple of years, get an official factory flash upgrade and all of a sudden your speedo reads 20km/h low and you get a speeding fine. "A poor driver blames his speedo"..... I posted this purely because there are a lot of AFF members who seldom leave the city except for holidays and it is Xmas, a time when many do on holidays. As I said it the first post, be safe out there and always have a backup plan..... Last edited by flappist; 12-12-2012 at 11:50 AM. |

The topic is "a problem with new apple maps".
It is not apple vs android. It is not "I am clever because I can read a melways" It is not anything other than if you have an apple product using IOS6 or later and wish to use it as a navigation aid be aware that some of the data is not as accurate as it was with previous versions or on other devices. Any more fanboi/hater posts will be treated as off topic. Last edited by flappist; 12-12-2012 at 12:10 PM. |

If you post another off topic fanboi/hater post in this thread you will get a warning. This may lead to a holiday if you already have enough points. Is there any part of this that is not clear? |

Gonna have my two bob.
This is again useless humans relying on the one thing to rule their life and expect this thing to get them through the day. What happened to being able to read a road map or following the road signs? If it's that flippin difficult to get from point A to point B then buy a proper GPS from JB Hi Fi, Hardly Normal, K-Mart... pick your poison.

It has been proven no maps are 100% correct whether print or electronic and it well known a lot of people would not know how to read or navigate a map properly.
Back to square one....... |

I'll be driving that way in March for Soundwave. I should update to ios6 just for the fun of it. Although you would expect for it to be fixed by then.
Even the world map gets it wrong. It has an island in the Pacific? that doesn't exist on any nautical maps. |

If you use bluetooth don't do it as it tends to drop out a lot, far more than 5.11

Maps all have their faults but you get what you pay for.
There are a number of navigation apps available from the various app-stores which have reasonable information. I have a Garmin loaded with dedicated 4x4 maps, but the free app "Australia - offline map with directU" sometimes has better detail than the Garmin. I can't fault the GPS in the iPhone, even with the "bad Apple -Maps" it shows me 1-4 metres from where I'm at. Finally, driving anywhere and especially in the outback still requires a degree of common-sense and spacial awareness. The problem we're seeing is that with technology doing more "driver assistance" some people assume then can disregard their responsibilities. |

I don't know whats dumber, people who blindly follow directions from a phone GPS when they are clearly going the wrong way, or people who have to bring up IPhone Vs Android arguments.
"If you don't use what I use then you are wrong, and i'll tell you why". Am I doing it right? I'll stick with google maps for now, never had an issue with it at all and I use it a lot. |

I think many here are missing the point. if a tourist arrives in Australia they have little or no knowledge of our roads ( so they have no idea they are going the wrong way), they don't know you don't go down a dirt road to get to Mildura or where ever. they rely on the tools they have and expect reasonable accuracy. remember the Apple exec responsible for this problem is no longer with Apple as a direct result of this problem.
this is not the fault of those getting lost, they bought a product in good faith with a much hyped feature that is worse than useless. the cops have a good reason to be concerned and it's nothing to do with stupiditity

I thought they would be happy as they don't want us using our iPhones while we drive anyway.
