I read a study a year or two ago where the researchers gave the participants incentives when they did the right thing and it changed the system on its head so instead of fining ppl for breaking road rules including speeding, they had a counter that showed ppl a cash bonus they would get at the end of the week or month or something and when the computer picked up an infringement then the drivers bonus reduced in front of them. They found it hugely successful as ppl could see an instant real reward to driving within the rules.
Sounded interesting, I wouldn't sign up but can see the benefit of it in general. We'll probably see ppl getting data loggers to reduce their insurance, kind of an extension of the dash cams. Ppl are more likely to do it themselves if they will save money, more then if the govt tried forcing it on everyone. |
